Wonderful book!,
This review is from: Wild and Wonderful Fleece Animals: With Full-Size Patterns for 20 Cuddly Critters (Hardcover-spiral)
I just bought this book at hobby lobby over the weekend and I was so excited by it I had to write a review.
First there are plenty of pictures and text to help you make the toys. The patterns are FULL SIZE in an envelope in the front of the book. No resizing necessary. Also the directions are easy to follow. Which is a plus for me as I am a visual learner. Pictures are required for me to follow directions. Also the toys made in the book are created with fleece and felt. The two easiest fabrics to work with *in my opinion*. And also some of the simplest to find in just about any fabric store. I highly recommend this to those who want some sweet animals to make that look cute and realistic. Some are more complex but there are plenty that are simple! I highly recommend to the newbie sewer and those of us who have been sewing for years!

This book is a hit for so many reasons:
* The patterns are easy to sew. Many are suitable for someone who has never made a stuffed animal before. * The animals are *cute*! It takes talent to make a cute animal pattern with so few pattern pieces- this book does it! * For those with experience, the patterns offer a good jumping-off point. For example, almost all of the patterns work just as well in fake fur as they do in fleece. Using the tiger pattern, I turned a leopard-print fake fur throw into a whole litter of adorable baby leopard cubs! If you have any interest whatsoever in making stuffed animals, buy this book. You won't regret it.

Best Pattern Book Ever...,

This review is from: Wild and Wonderful Fleece Animals: With Full-Size Patterns for 20 Cuddly Critters (Hardcover-spiral)
I love to sew...and I love great patterns. This book provides a wonderful place to start. I took the patterns and added my own special touch to each. The designs of each animal are sweet and so easy to put together. Patterns included in a nice envelope to keep them all in one place -- beautiful photography and instructions that are easy to follow. Cute, cute creations can be started from the basics provided in this book. I wish the author would provide another book just as great as this one. I'd give it 10 stars if that option were available!! Great investment (though the price is more than reasonable for what this book will add to your creative endeavors).

I have been sewing for about 3 years so I am in no way an expert. But, even if you are an expert or just starting out, this book is really great for you! The patterns are simple and straight forward, many of them have under 7 pieces total and some have just three or four pieces. The animals vary in size, so some are a great way to use up some scrap fabric (aka the smaller rabbit, centipede, etc).
I recommend a couple of things: look at the actual pattern before you buy fabric, they are much bigger than I thought some of them were! Second, the patterns all come on four large foldouts; I just trace the pattern I need and save them so I don't lose the pieces. Other than those, great book! I have made 2 cats, the rabbit, penguin and the hedgehog.

great results,
This review is from: Wild and Wonderful Fleece Animals: With Full-Size Patterns for 20 Cuddly Critters (Hardcover-spiral)
I gave this book to my 14-year-old daughter. So far she has made the duck, the pig and the penguin. They have turned out great, you can hardly believe she made them they look so good. Even though my daughter is fairly new at the sewing machine, I hardly needed to help her at all. The instructions are clear, and the finished animals are very cute. Plus, they are very inexpensive to make -- anti-pill fleece is very easy to find. She already has plans for the next two or three animals to make. A great book -- minimal frustration, pleasing results!

Adorable Results!,
This review is from: Wild and Wonderful Fleece Animals: With Full-Size Patterns for 20 Cuddly Critters (Hardcover-spiral)
I found this book at my local library first, and simply had to have a copy of my own!
The full-sized patterns are amazing, and the pictorial instructions easily followed. With the majority of the seams being machine sewed, these make practical children toys as well. I have tried the hedgehog and penguin patterns, and both took me less than an hour to complete. Simple additions of trim will further personalize the toys, making adorable gifts. (For example, a feathery trim sewn in the head seam of the penguin pattern makes a cute Mohawk-style punk rocker, while beaded tassels make a flirty necklace.) I would recommend this book to any one looking for sweet, fun projects that can be finished in an afternoon.

Faux Fur and other materials,

This book is an incredible value. Some of the patterns in the book have been sold seperately by Vogue patterns at prices higher than the cost of this book. The animals are all inexpensive to make if you use fleece or flannel but I used faux furs and velboa as well without difficulty. Some of the constructions are quite unique(check out the walrus head) and there is great variety in how eyes, noses, tusks, and mouths are made. The instructions are good. The patterns are on heavy paper. I chose to copy the patterns pieces rather than cut them because I wanted to keep the patterns intact. I also scanned and enlarged one of the patterns to make a mama and baby. My review is based on having made the the walrus twice, the siberian tiger (mama and baby), and the polar bear.

I only checked this book out from the library, but it is definitely worth buying. (i am actually afraid if i buy it, i will be requested by my kids to make each pattern, which would create huge overpopulation in my house of stuffed creatures--even though they are probably my favorite thing to make!) I made two of the penguins for my children for christmas. As others have said, the illustrated instructions are so clear, and the patterns are included (i traced them of course, since this is a library copy--but the heavy paper they are on and thick lines they are drawn with made this easy). The choices are varied and so cute. I am an intermediate sewist and each toy took me less than an hour after i had collected and cut my materials (it went especially quick making the second one). Such a great deal for so many patterns, too!

very cute animals, seems easy enough, simple instructions, with good tips for someone who does not sew much- like myself, but I read a review on this item and I thought it said full size patterns- that is why I bought this--it does not have full size paper patterns IN the book, there are 2-4 pages of patterns per animal but they are small drawings. I does come with a cd to print the patterns though. will end up drawing my own pattern using theirs as a guidline.
