Great Guitar For The Beginner,
By "The Woj" (Downers Grove, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WildFire Electric Guitar Combo Pack - Black Finish
Everything you need is right here and delivered to your door very fast. The guitar, amp, etc... were all very well packaged and came out of the box safe & sound. With a 24" scale length based on the Gibson Les Paul, this is a much easier guitar to play for beginners compared to the 25 1/2 " scale length which is standard on most Strat knock-offs. If you are buying this for a child, their smaller hands will really apperciate this fretboard.
And while noone will mistake this for a Gibson Les Paul, it is very well put together. The frets are all very even and no warping of the neck at all. The amp cranks out some decent volume and gets pretty dirty on the distortion end too. Once you become a proficient player you will obviously upgrade on this set. But until that time, you do not need to look any further for a great started guitar. Come on! Over 200 bucks off the list! Add to cart now and you'll be driving your neighbors Gonzo within a week!

I am only a beginner but I think this is an excellent buy for the price. I like the guitar very much. Everything was in excellent condition and works great. The amp is plenty for my living room. I highly recommend this package for any beginner.

I have bought 3 of these Wildfire guitars for the school music room I work at. These are a nice size for the female players and a good fit for big guys too. This guitar has a set neck, big fretboard inlays, carved top, smooth finish, quality tuners and a solid input jack. It plays very well and sounds great when amplified. As others have noted, a change (upgrade) of strings is always a good idea on any inexpensive guitar. I have not noticed any unusually high string breakage on these Wildfire guitars as another reviewer stated. I think this axe makes a monkey out of the Squier and Epiphone guitars I was stocking in the music room previously. The students all prefer the Wildfire too.

Great For a beginner..,

This was my first guitar that I got about a year ago. It plays well, and the amp is great for distortion, etc. although the cable, strap, pics, and strings are basically worthless. The pickups combined with the high gain on the amp make for great sounding power chords. although it is a bit hard to make this guitar sound good without it being uber distorted the cable gave out in about 1 week, the pics are really thick and not too good for strumming, and the strap broke easily. When you get this guitar, you may want to put some Ernie Ball strings on before you play it, or you will be breaking them easy. This is Strictly for a beginner though, so if you buy it, plan on replacing it in a year or so.

Been playing for 30+ years. I play everything. I used to own a 78 black beauty les paul that got stolen along with about 30 grand in equipment, all gone, wanted to pursue this "low life" if you know what I mean, but needed to move on. Price increases on gibson boardering the ridiculous and poor economy led me to believe I would never be able to own and play a decent guitar again. Finally said F### it and bought this cheapy wildfire guitar not expecting much but at least having something to play. picked up a 10 dollar garage sale amp to play through and Pleasent Surprise!!! This guitar rocks pretty well! Nice distortion and sustain, Inset neck was a surprise, I frequently have to set the intonation for some reason and it breaks a lot of strings specifically the top 'E" string. Otherwise this is a great value for the money. Nice finish too, I got the white one and when I first opened the box I was really impressed, pretty good, wow, factor.
For some strange reason I am playing better than I ever have, I am not saying its this Guitar for sure but this thing has a very quick feeling neck. My only complaint is it seems to be a bit neck heavy and tends to slip into a neck down position when I am playing it, causing me to finger mute accidently ussually the top "e" string which I rely on quite a bit. Keep in mind I have FAT fingers and on this narrow neck its a bit of a trick to play it clean because it always moving away from me, so thats the only reason why the four instead of five stars rating. May have to hang weight on the bottom or a balloon on the head stock to even it out but, other wise this thing was a life saver. I Didn't play for a while after the rip off. I just couldn't afford to replace everything and moped around about it for a few years in a deep funk. This guitar got me started again and I now I am playing every day again. Another unexpected plus was the weight. After playing a les paul for hours on end I would usually end up with cronic neck pain that would actually make my hand go numb from pinching the neck nerves. No such problem now. I played yesterday for 5 or 6 hours straight, planning on doing the same today. I just got say, "Thanks Wildfire, you just may have saved my life on this one."

They used to stock these in the music store I work at. I should say that the design itself is not inherently poor. I also want to point out that occasionally they get one of these almost right, resulting in a mediocre, but not bad guitar. If done correctly, these are an ok choice for tweens or adults with small hands.
More often these guitars are terrible. The most common flaw seems to be neglecting the fret edges. Some frets are not sanded correctly and CAN CUT YOUR HANDS. The neck set angle is also usually poor, but this can be fixed easily, and seems to be common among lower priced guitars. Nut slots are often cut poorly resulting in buzz at the first fret or insanely high action. Polepiece alignment at the pickups is also poor, with the low E missing completely. Neck wood is generally weak, but also not warped or green. The gigbag is also flimsy and doesn't seem to hold up at the edges, and the provided cord shorts out quickly. Perhaps the only part of the package that is consistently decent is the amp, which is usually ok. Most students I've met who have owned one of these have quit in short order. I am positive that the guitar contributed to that.

--- First of all, this is not Tammy, this is her son Zak --- I agree with Clay Alford 100%. The cable, picks, strap, and sort of even the gigbag are terrible. The guitar and amp themselves aren't that bad, but once you get more experienced, get another one. (I'm gonna buy an Epiphone G-400 GS) Expect to replace in a year (or two for me), but a great learning tool.

WildFire Electric Guitar Review,

I've played guitar for years. I had an Amazon gift certificate from my employer I had to burn up, so I purchased this WildFire combo package to check it out. It's a nice entry-level package if you're just getting started. The amp isn't much, but overall it's a pretty good value. Most impressive was how quickly it arrived at my door after placing the order (especially being around Christmas).

This guitar set is okay. whaen it came to my door i was excited to play and then the strings where sreched out alot the euner didn"t work the amp is a good amp. If you replace the strings it should be a good guitar. I also found out for some strange reason the strings break easily. I don't play heavy mental i play mostly ac/dc stuuf But it is still a pretty good guitar. I recomend it for a begginer

Very Poor Customer Service -Item never delivered !!!,

This review is from: WildFire Electric Guitar Combo Pack - Black Finish
It seems that I will never be able to find out if the product is good or bad.
They kept on sending the order to wrong addresses and then kept on asking me to re order it again and again. They keep on sending automated messages, and there is no one to handle real problems. I would not recommend dealing with this vendor again. Stick to items that are in Amazon.com stock and keep away from other vendors. You just have no control over sub vendors via Amazon.com. |
