A Total Delight,
By Corrie Scott (Barbados) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From Wilder Shores: The Tables of My Travel (Hardcover)
If you enjoy good story telling, humour and have a passion for food, this is joy. From trains in Russia where she consumed caviar for breakfast , lunch and dinner, to a wonderful fantasy tale about her favourite Christmas dinner, with people from time gone by coming to her house in all modes of transport (from carriages to flying carpets!) she delights us. Lesly Blanch takes us through modest comfort foods such as favourite nursery puddings to exotic picnics and does so with gustatorial abandon. When I am feeling jaded, I pick this book up , and one chapter later I am full of the joy of life and adventure. A total delight
