5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY ADORED IT!

1.0 out of 5 stars No romance!
This book is not worth spending your money on. It lacked romance and not once did it mention the heroe loving the heroine it only mentions him loving his stepmother and his obsession with her. I wish i could give this book negative stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY ADORED IT!, February 18, 2000
This review is from: The Wildest Heart (Mass Market Paperback)
I first read this book when I was sixteen. I am in my mid thirties now and have never forgotten either Rowena Dangerfield or Lucas Cord and I still have the book! The story is written differently to Sweet Savage Love-also by the same author- in that the scenes of intimacy between Lucas and Rowena are very brief and hardly described. As Ms Rogers has a particular skill for writing passionate scenes, i would have liked to have seen more intimacy between them and more focus on their relationship. That would be my only critisicm of this book , however the 5 stars are for totally captivating me and wanting the book to go on and on! The plot itself was brilliant and had you guessing until quite late in the book and there was a great twist at the end. I absolutely adored Lucas Cord-the hero- who aswell as being a traditionally strong silent type, was utterly endearing because of the vulnerable side to his character which he let Rowena see. I would absolutely love it if Miss Rogers would do a sequel to this because even after all these years I still find myself wanting to know more about them. As an absolute lover of Rosemary Rogers books I was really disappointed with the sequels to Sweet Savage Love as the two central characters just kept fighting and sleeping with other people. A sequel to The Wildest Heart would give her a chance to redeem herself! If anyone knows where I can write to Miss Rogers please let me know!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!, September 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wildest Heart (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a refreshing change from Rosemary Rogers Steve and Ginny stories and also from her other titles. Rowena comes to America hoping to meet her long lost father and to start a new life away from England and her shallow mother and stepfather. She arrives to find herself in the middle of a longstanding feud. Although, the heroine, Rowena, seems cold at first, you see her transforming into a warm human being during the course of the story as she learns more about the people and history of her new American home. Lucas, the hero is enigmatic, stoic and tragic and he is haunted by his past. Both characters have had less than ideal backgrounds prior to meeting and this colors their perceptions of people. This is a story of how hate and revenge can ruin lives but it is also a story of being open hearted and willing to listen to both sides of a story. The characters are colorful. Some are shallow while others are more hidden and complex. There is an element of suspense to the novel as the reader finds out what happened so long ago to initiate the feud. The ideas of duty and fate are touched on in this book but don't cast an overbearing shadow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Captivating, May 2, 2000
This review is from: The Wildest Heart (Mass Market Paperback)
The Wildest Heart was the first historical romance I ever read...and that was at fourteen. The characterization and story still capture my imagination today (I am in my mid-thirties). I enjoyed being introduced to Rowena and Lucas and viewing the struggles they went through, both together and individually. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to watch them grow emotionally and to watch them discover they were stronger than they realized. Rosemary Rogers' Wildest Heart kept me captivated well beyond the last page...beyond the last word...her Ro and Luke continue to wander out there in the southwest, two truly "wild hearts."

Once again Rosemary Rogers does it again. This book was filled with memorable characters. I enjoyed it immensely. Another can't put down book as usual. The romance was exciting as always. If you like historical romance this book is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Romance Novel of all time!, July 15, 2006
This review is from: The Wildest Heart (Mass Market Paperback)
I love this book. I read it when I was a junior in High School. I'm 46 years old now and it's still as clear as yesterday in my memory. I love the relationship that Rowena has with her "half breed" lover. I remember sitting on a New York subway train, reading this book and actually crying!!! No other book has ever had this effect on me...not even "Sweet Savage Love," that was the popular book at that time. Jinny has nothing over Rowena. I even swore I'd name my first daughter after her. What a great story!!! Rogers best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Twist and Love Story I Have Read!, September 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wildest Heart (Mass Market Paperback)
This is my all time favorite story. The characters lived lives that were realistic with their sexual laisons, etc. I get tired of reality being left out of romance books. Authors like Rogers who dare to include in their stories such things as the incest the step father forced on Rowena make the stories more interesting. This story has so many interesting and shocking twist to it as the family history and relationships are revealed. I fell in love with Lucas. He seemed to be such a senuous man. The relationship between him and Rowena was disturbing, erotic, and thankfully ended positive. I can't say enough about the twist in the stroy, these twist and Lucas is what made this my all time favorite!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated It, November 19, 2009

I regret buying this book. There is nothing but constant misunderstandings, arguing, and deceptions. The end wasn't even rewarding enough to have put up with all of that. I never once felt the love the two leading characters had for each other. More like lust. There is more description of the infatuation and love the hero has for his stepmother than for the heroine. That in itself was disturbing. It wasn't as though it was for a fleeting moment either. No, the stepmother was basically "the other woman" that wedged herself between the hero and heroine. Disgusting. The heroine put up with too much from this hero. The child she bears is named after her father and the guy that rapes her who happened to be the hero's brother. I wish I would have taken the time to read the first few chapters or skimmed the book some before I purchased it. Waste of money and a total dissapointment.
