About the Author

She’s the type of person who doesn’t have a favorite color. She's a gypsy at heart who was raised on country music, green chile, and change. Sarah Spann got her start working as a freelance writer specializing in travel and style. She has written articles, web content and blogs for both small businesses and large corporations. Prior to working full-time as a writer she spent four years working at a bed & breakfast inn, a short stint working as the only vegetarian at a chicken wings stop, a house cleaner, a house sitter guaranteed to lose your cats, a gift basket designer, and the little waitress that couldn't. Somewhere in between she was waitlisted for film school and rejected by a popular television singing competition. When Sarah isn’t writing or designing she can be found dining on gourmet food, spending time at the opera, and taming lions. Well…not really. Actually, you can find her making a mess in the kitchen as she tries out impossibly difficult exotic recipes for foods she can't pronounce, watching all of her favorite shows and/or football on TV, and playing with her lazy, fat cat.

Sarah Spann is an author who is inspired by the beauty within darkness, the secrets we all keep, and the things we feel but cannot see. Spann's writing style flows beautifully across the page as she pulls you in with her breathtaking storytelling skills. Readers will find themselves on the edge of their seats as they experience stories told by an author who firmly believes that happy endings are a contradiction that don't really exist, and that life is much more beautiful when you embrace the darkness and imperfection.

In addition to being an author, Sarah Spann is also an accomplished designer running her own design studio, as well as an experienced freelance writer specializing in travel, entertainment and style.

I absolutely loved this book! The character of Lyss was fun, snarky, with a bit of deep-set angst. She found she has a gift of seeing, which makes her think she is crazy. I liked the relationships she had with the people at the inn. They were all unique characters that Lyss grew to love like family. I do wish there was a little more of Gloria because she seemed so eccentric, but the reason for her absence is understood and explained.

The history behind what's going on is a great story in and of itself. The words of the author had me turning page after page wanting to see what happens. As I was nearing the end, I feared I wasn't going to uncover who the culprit was, but of course Spann didn't let us hang. She revealed not only the culprit, but something else very significant that literally gave me goosebumps!

I don't want to give any spoilers, so I have to keep this review brief. There is a lot I want to discuss, all great, but the readers should get to experience it themselves. This book is highly recommended by me. Spann has a way with words. The fact that this is her debut novel shows that we can expect more great works from her in the future. Pick this book up today!

Sarah Spann takes us on an amazing journey. We meet the charming Lyss. Full of youthful energy, angst and internal turmoil. Spann introduces us to a charming Santa Fe inn filled with an intriguing staff and, I swear, I could taste the dishes that came from the inn's kitchen! You and Lyss will also encounter something that neither of you expect...I really can't give away any more, but I will tell you that I am normally good a guessing where a mystery is headed, but not with Wildflowers Come Back. Midway through the book, 75% into it...and even the last page, caught me by surprise. That's hard to find in any book. This isn't just any book. It's a must read, and I guarantee that after you read it,you will want to immediately read it again!

I just finished reading this, and I really hope there's more! The story ends a little open ended, which I like but at the same don't like...unless there's a sequel! Lyss is a very relatable character; I think we've all found ourselves at rock bottom at least once in our lives, and have had to learn to get back up.

It's an easy, fun and fast read, another plus. I don't like long-winded chapters or storylines.
Great job on your first novel, Sarah. I can't wait to read more from you!

The author is really, really good describing the chilling parts. Just enough characters to keep you guessing.

A "easy" ghost mystery where you will be able to turn the lights off and go to sleep.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but I had a feeling I'd be quite entertained. As someone who follows Sarah on Twitter, her witty tweets set my expectations high and I have to say, this book didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting a paranormal but I caught on by chapter 4 that something wasn't right about the girl talking to Lyss. I was expecting some kind of romance and the book toys around with romance but veers away often to dive into the suspense of serial killers, mysteries and ghosts. The writing was so well done in this book that I have to say by then end of it, I wouldn't have cared what it was about because I loved it. I believe that Sarah Spann is one who will eventually join the ranks of the more reliable Indie Writers that you can count on not only a professional appearance, but excellent editing. This book would get five stars for the story and an additional star if I could for the professionalism that made the book read easy and comfortably.

Wildflowers Come Back is definetely worth the read!

A neat story with potential for one or more sequels - and as mr. Merrick points out, as a guy I was also kind of worried by the whole romance thing, but it fits the story without taking over the story.

Can't wait for more :)

I really liked this book in the beginning, and even through the middle. It's a story about a girl (Lyss) who is down one her luck, then without really trying, lands a job as an assistant manager of an inn. As you probably know from other reviews, there are stories about the inn being haunted, and of course Lyss is the recipient of frightening communications from ghosts. At the same time, there is a serial killer running loose. As scary as all this sounds, the book wasn't really believable enough to be all that frightening to me.

Now I'll tell you what I liked and didn't like:

My likes: For the MOST part, I liked the pacing of the book. Lyss moves into the inn, has trouble with the manager she is working with, then all of a sudden it's two weeks later, and things are a little better. Then it's several weeks later and she is getting along pretty well with the manager. Time passes in chunks, without the tedious details that seem to drag some stories out. That's a writing style I like! I also liked the characters. The author allows you to quickly get to know them and they are for the most part, likeable.

My dislikes: The communications from the ghosts were unbelievable. Ok, lets assume I believe in ghosts....it was still unbelievable. For example, the ghosts appear to her looking bloody and frightening, and one of them is even able to physically restrain Lyss. Then another one says things like "Don't trust him". Of course, Lyss wonders if they mean the guy she has started to fall for. I just thought if the ghosts were able to appear and talk, couldn't they be clear about who she wasn't supposed to trust? Couldn't they replace 'him' with the name of the person? Maybe I'm nitpicking, and maybe that was supposed to add suspense. I know it's fiction, but still!
