5.0 out of 5 stars Oh- how I've longed for a CD like Genie's WILDFLOWERS...
I listen to Genie and close my eyes and remember my Grandmother, and the love my parents shared before they went on.
Why don't the young kids make such beautiful songs anymore?
I am a Genie fan for life.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lame
Nothing like Eva Cassidy. This is Christian easy listening music. Don't be fooled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wildflowers fills my heart with memories of joy, June 21, 2002
This review is from: Wildflowers (Audio CD)
On this album Genie steps out a bit from the super-peaceful sound of her other albums, which I think of as night-time albums. It's still really gentle, but Wildflowers fills my DAYS with such beautiful songs, all very thoughtful but pure and simple. Some of these songs have more varied instruments than the Whisper CD. I love all of Genie's stuff- the songs have really changed my life. I've wondered where all of the peaceful songwriters like James Taylor, Dan Fogleberg, and John Denver have gone. Genie fills that void and updates the style while remaining true to its simple heart. I don't want to sound like I'm hyping her, but I'm such a huge fan of Genie and I know you're really going to love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars The new one is the one you want - it's good for everyone, June 30, 2003
This review is from: Wildflowers (Audio CD)
I have two copies of this CD, the old one and the new one.

The new one is much better than the old one, although I love the old one too.

The new one seems to have the "free MP3 songs" that I just heard here on this wonderful store. I don't see why anyone would think it was all "Christian", not that there's anything wrong with that. I love God, and this Wildflowers record didn't offend me at all, but it's just love songs and songs for family and stuff like that. Not a church recording. I can recommend it for a gift to anyone who likes quiet peace music and anyone who likes a soft voice like Eva Cassidy singing soft.
One thing I really enjoy about Genie is that she writes her own songs and they are some of the most pretty songs you've ever laid ears to- just take a listen to all those free mp3's Genie is giving away and you'll trust me.

Spellbinding.
That's all I can say about the new MP3 I just heard of Quiet Place.
You have just got to hear it to believe it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like softer songs of such artists as Mary Chapin Carpenter, August 8, 2003
This review is from: Wildflowers (Audio CD)
My tastes flow toward the softer songs of such artists as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tori Amos, Beth Neilsen CHapman, and of course Enya. I only recently discovered the artistry of Genie, who appears to me to wrap my favorite elements of the above named artists into a soft, lush, sensous yet innocent package.
I have since purchased Whisper and Angels ALl Around as well, and while I enjoy them very much, I must admit that Wildflowers is by far my favorite, except when I'm specifically trying to sleep, at which time Whisper or Angels are my picks. I could not be more impressed with this CD and I highly suggest it for your use.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is A Beautiful Album!, August 6, 2005

Even so, get the Genie 4 CD Box set instead of this. This title is one of the four in that set. Genie makes angelic and pristine music. It is very calming and spiritually satisfying. I highly recommend the 4 CD box set. Get that, and you will have a nice little Genie collection. It's a great deal.

This is great music for times you want to just relax. Genie has such a sweet and gentle voice. I am not religious and a few songs have a Christian theme, but this doesn't bother me at all, the music is wonderful. Download a few songs and give it a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm so pleased I bought this CD- you should too..., August 6, 2002

This review is from: Wildflowers (Audio CD)
Wildflowers is such a precious song- it and undying love are worth the price alone. Genie is a one-of-a-kind gem, but she reminds me a bit of other artists I love like Dan Fogleberg, John Denver, Alison Krauss, and Jewel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songs sure to bring hope, happiness and total peace, August 30, 2005

On her album Wildflowers, Genie presents a selection of delightful love songs. These songs do not only address romantic love, but also love of pets, family members and God. All are heart felt, absolutely sincere, and very lovely.
At the center of each piece are Genie's simple yet passionate lyrics, delivered in a voice that is sweet as birdsong, delicate as flower petals, and gentle as newly fallen snowflakes. Nestled around Genie's voice are softly lilting guitars, synthesizers, and Genie's lovely piano playing.
The title track, "Wildflowers", is dedicated to Genie's grandmother, and speaks of childhood days, growing up, and the love of a grandmother for her grandchild. "Quiet Place" includes a fragile and beautiful melodic line, and is an achingly lovely song about finding serenity while living in a harsh world. This piece also contains one of Genie's strongest and most passionate vocal deliveries.
"Someday" is a wistful song, again, about waiting for a time of serenity and peace, while "Undying Love", dedicated to Genie's parents, is a lovely piece about the bonds and boundless love between parents and their children.
"Ariel" is a lullaby like piece that Genie penned for her dog. The gentle "You Steal My Heart Away" is a favorite of mine, which Genie wrote for her future child. It includes a melodic guitar, and a dreamy delivery with all the passion of a future mother in it. Truly lovely.
"Sailing Angel" is a soft, lilting, piano driven instrumental, and a definite album highlight. "I Love You More Than Life", "Life's Winding Road", and "I'll Always Love You" are beautiful pieces, and all would make delightful editions to a wedding or any special occasion. And "Streams In The Desert" is a wonderful piece about miracles and God's love. The final song, "Lora", is a gentle, positive and hopeful song about solace, healing and the grace found when you are truly loved by others.
Following "Lora" are instrumental versions of all the vocal tracks, wonderful to sing along with or simply relax to. The final piece, "Trees", is a poem read by Genie at age eight. It's a sweet way to end the record.
Wildflowers is a lovely and endearing album that discusses the glory of love. It is soothing, sincere and straight from Genie's heart to her listeners. A beautiful album, which can be enjoyed by everyone. It will bring hope, happiness and total peace. Highly recommended!
