A wonderful guide to identifying Tahoe wildflowers, January 15, 1999
This review is from: Wildflowers of the Tahoe Sierra (Paperback)
There are several books available on California wildflower identification, but this is the only one that covers the Tahoe Sierra. Laird Blackwell, respected professor at Sierra Nevada College has dished up a wonderfully satifying little book that is packed with beautiful photographs, helpful identification tips and humorous prose. As a plant identification teacher myself, I can attest to this books need and I warmly reccomend it to anyone who wishes to walk though Tahoe's beautiful wild gardens and have at their fingertips a fun and helpful guide to the wioldflowers of this region.

Sierra Wildflowers, July 31, 2006
This review is from: Wildflowers of the Tahoe Sierra (Paperback)
I purchased this book just before I was going to Carson pass for a day's hike to look at the wildflowers. It came in very handy. It also helped me to identify most of the photographs I had taken when I got home.
It is not very easy to find specific flowers in order to identify them even though there are several groupings based on colors and common and scientific names.
It is by no means a complete treatise because we found flowers which were not in the book. Fortunatley we had a very knowledgeable Sierra club leader (Wildflower Roger) who helped me identify the ones I could not find in the book.
Overall, it is a handy little book to have.
