5.0 out of 5 stars Alaskan Wildlife Management, July 6, 2009

This review is from: Wildlife Management and Subsistence Hunting in Alaska (Polar Research Series) (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book that was probably published before its time. What this shows is that Henry Huntington was on the cutting edge of Indigenous Wildlife issues and he continues to be so. If this book were coming out today it would probably sell much more, because it deals with a number of hot button issues, such as indigenous whaling, subsistence hunting compared with sport hunting, and other issues concerning marine mammal management. The Alaskan situation has been a classic example where Indigenous people without formal treaties negotiated with state and federal governments to at least try and come up with solutions that all parties could live with.
