"A Loon Story" is the story of a pair of Common Loons in Wisconsin's Vilas County that spans 28 days of caring for their eggs and trying to rear offspring.
The hen was first caught and banded in 1993. She and her mate(s) have fledged 9 chicks at this site since then. The data available on the hen makes "A Loon Story" very unique in that we know her and of her past. She is identifiable all throughout the movie due to her 4 leg bands. The male doesn't have any bands.
"A Loon Story" is for all loon lovers from the casual observer to the loon fanatic. The amount of selectable chapters lets you decide how involved you want to get at any one time with our family and also allows you to resume at a later date.
The movie is a study of loon behavior on their nest and in the bay they inhabit. There is no verbal narration. The soundtrack is the natural sounds of the immediate area and of the loons themselves.
The movie is the culmination of 28 days with the pair during rain or shine as well as shooting over 55 hours of digital video.
