2.0 out of 5 stars THE WILDS....Actually, Pretty Tame, November 29, 2008

This review is from: The Wilds (Cemetery Dance Novella Series, No. 1) (Hardcover)
THE WILDS is the insanely hard-to-find (And insanely expensive on the secondary market!) first book in the CEMETERY DANCE NOVELLA SERIES, and aside from it's near legendary status as a collectible, there's really not much here to recommend.

Ned Champion, fresh off a painful break-up with his girlfriend, decides to take their long-planned wilderness hike by himself, to hopefully take his mind off of his romantic woes. What follows is typical Laymon: Weird horny guy stalking women, concocting rape fantasies, and committing a gruesome murder or two. Or five. My experience has been, that if you've read one Laymon, you've pretty much read them all. (I'd recommend his NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER to the uninitiated......) THE WILDS certainly isn't a terrible read, but it's not a very inspired one.

The novella is limited to 450 numbered copies, all signed by Richard Laymon, with cover and interior illustrations by Keith Minnion.
