Go for the Taragon piece,
By
This review is from: I Will Follow Him (Audio CD)
This CD basically contains the "I Will Follow Him" album with six "bonus" tracks among which are the remaining three top-100 singles achieved by March. With the bonus singles thrown in, it stretches to a "greatest hits" collection.
These album tracks are in stereo and good, not great, sound. The bonus tracks however, were apparently thrown on from whatever inferior source that may have been laying around the BMG vaults. They are not in stereo and not the quality they should be for a CD reissue. This leads to the fact that these other tracks are available on Taragon's "Very Best of" compilation with its vastly superior sound. If you must have the entire "Follow" album, then this is your only choice. If you want a more comprehensive, far better-sounding compilation of March's RCA work, go for the Taragon piece.

fine ballads by the incomparable Little Peggy March,

I Will Follow Him is the title of a great CD by Little Peggy March. Peggy sang beautifully; her voice was as clear as a bell and she could convey all the emotions of every ballad she ever performed. Yes, this sound quality is not quite as good as the CD from Taragon; but it's not a big difference from the Taragon CD in terms of sound quality. The songs on this album display Peggy March's fine ability to sing very well.
The album starts out with one of Peggy's biggest hits, "I Will Follow Him." Peggy sings this flawlessly; and the beat is awesome! The drums, percussion and strings carry the bulk of the melody and the backup vocalists do a great job of singing sweetly in harmony, too. This sweet ballad has Peggy singing of how she will follow her one true love so she can always be with him. "Dream World" again features Peggy's vocals squarely in the spotlight; and the strings work very well on this number. Peggy sings this perfectly and her vocal range is just right for this number. "I Wish I Were A Princess" is a masterpiece in Peggy March's capable hands; Peggy sings this with all her heart and soul. Peggy sings of her love and how she wants to spend forever with her man. The drums, percussion, strings and more make the melody very special and I predict that you will enjoy "I Wish I Were A Princess" very much. Listen also for "I'll Never Forget Last Night." The men on backup do a good job; and the melody is very catchy. Peggy sings this song with panache and the drums are used to great advantage. Great! "Teasin'" is a cute little number that gets the royal treatment from Peggy as she sings this very well. The backup vocalists do well and the electric guitar on "Teasin'" really enhances the strength of this ballad. "Hello Heartache, Goodbye Love" puts Peggy again in the spotlight and the musical arrangement sounds very well done. "The Impossible Happened" showcases Peggy at her best singing this love ballad; and "Pagan Love Song" shines when Peggy March sings it! The album ends very strong with Peggy doing "(I'm Watching) Every Little Move You Make." "(I'm Watching) Every Little Move You Make" has that classic Peggy March sound and the brass in the arrangement sounds really cool! Although some will tell you that the album on the Taragon label is far superior in sound quality, I would agree with the reviewer who writes that there's no striking difference in sound quality after all. This album does a wonderful job of proving just how special Little Peggy March really was. I highly recommend this for her fans; and people who want to listen to her performing quite a few songs will do well to choose this album, too.

I Will Follow Him,

This review is from: I Will Follow Him (Audio CD)
Although Peggy March has been one of my favorite artist for several years, this CD hardly showcases her unique talents. It is a compilation of her first album. It is a good example of how producers Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore stifled this artist's tremendous ability (Probably one of the leading contributors of Peggy's inability to get firmly established in the USA). Despite this she manages to make several of these tunes quite enjoyable. If you would like to hear Peggy at her best try her 1968 album No Foolin' or listen to her German work. If you like oldies try Tarragon's The Very Best of Little Peggy March. It has some of Peggy's better English RCA recordings.

True Stereo and Great Sound Quality,

This CD contains all songs found on the original 1963 RCA album of the same title. There are several catchy songs by Peggy March using her unique high pitched cute voice. If you liked "I Will Follow Him", then you will like the other songs on this CD. All songs originally contained on the album are in true stereo on this CD. Sound quality is good enough to have come from the original master tapes, although there is no mention of this on the CD. Only the six bonus tracks are in mono. I searched many years to find a mint condition stero copy of the original album. I don't have to look any more.
