I changed my mind about golf in a moment. On an unusually gray California winter’s day a few years ago, I found my drive 70 yards from the green in a tight lie. This was a relatively simple second shot to a short par four, but I caught the shot thin and bladed the ball over the green. In a moment, watching in disbelief, I experienced frustration and anger for blowing such an easy scoring opportunity. And then I laughed.

Instead of cursing the situation, or tossing my club, I laughed at my lack of foresight and set about saving par. I promised to maintain my composure, visualize each shot and complete the round with my integrity in tact. The round was a turning point. Not for the score I posted, but for the way I was able to maintain my physical, mental and emotional balance.

I was encouraged and incorporated more yoga postures and breath work into my game. The process of creating the Will of Golf program required two years and includes visualization and manifesting techniques learned from my friend and teacher Frank Natale.

More About the Author

A results coach and creative strategist, author Ralph Cissne was inspired by Gary Player's early advocacy of golf fitness training in the Sixties. Cissne later turned to hatha yoga to overcome a lower back injury and adapted aspects of Manifesting Results by Frank Natale, his friend and mentor, based on success with these techniques.

In addition to Will of Golf, Cissne has published countless articles on golf, yoga and fitness. He is an award-winning poet and his short story publication credits include American Way and Playboy. The principal of Morgan Road, Cissne's marketing clients have included many leading companies in health, fitness and personal development.

A native Californian, Cissne grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from The University of Oklahoma School of Journalism. He is a longtime member of the Southern California PLGA/SCGA (index 1.0).

With age has come the need for increased flexibility, strength and better balance on the golf course. This book has been a big help for me. The "Short Set" is an excellent warm up routine. It's easy and really improves range of motion from swing one. Have also never been as "smart" as I need to be on the course. Cissne's book has me thinking my way through the round much better than I ever have before, and I'm actually managing my emotions and channeling my energy with really positive results. It takes a little effort to complete the workbook but doing the work is what brings the reward. Have found myself thinking about how the book's teachings apply to my life off the course as well. The Om CD is a very peaceful stress reducer.
