A great soundtrack for a great show!,
By
This review is from: Will & Grace: Let The Music Out! (Audio CD)
This soundtrack contains the best choices in music that correspond with the TV show, Will & Grace. Songs such as "You're My Best Friend"-by Queen, "White Flag"-by Dido, and "World On Fire"-by Sarah McLachlan, really help to define the personality and the relationship between the show's charachters, Will, Grace, Jack & Karen. However, at the same time the show is very musical all in itself, featuring artists like Barry Manilow, Elton John and Cher. They too are woven into this CD, along with performances by the actual actors themselves. The CD ends on a wonderful note with a song written by Manilow and Eric McCormack, the actor who plays Will. The song is called "Living With Grace" and it is a beautiful ballad dedicated to the relationship between the show's main characters Will & Grace. The piano accompaniment works well with Eric McCormack's voice, making the song very heartfelt and memorable. My only complaint with the CD is Britney Spears who I am not a big fan of. And who would believe the voice of Megan Mullally, the actress who plays Karen. She can really sing! I recommend this for any Will & Grace fan. It's great music that goes along with a great show.

I had only purchased this CD for the Marius De Vries remix of Sarah McLachlan's "World On Fire" and the Scumfrog Mix of "White Flag" by Dido. However, the rest of the tracks are quite good too.
First up is the Theme from the show. It's slowed down, but is exactly the same as it is in the show. The Queen and Elton John tracks that follow are digitally remastered and sound just as good as they did when they came out. "He's Hot!" is a fun track. It contains elements of Madonna's classic dance track "Holiday." There are some vocal samples from Madonna's song too, and there is plenty of voice samples from the four characters of Will & Grace. The longer version would have been better, but it's still good. It can be compared to that one track "Absolutely Fabulous" by the Pet Shop Boys which contained voice samples from the main characters on AbFab. Here is where there is a slight problem. On the back, it says that Hex's Momentous Radio Mix of "Waiting For Tonight" by Jennifer Lopez is on there, BUT IT IS NOT!!! It's the original album mix. Not that the original is not good, but the remix is a great alternative version. Oh well, it's still a classic. Next is the Marius DeVries Radio Mix of "World On Fire" by Sarah McLachlan. This is an amazing track. This is not an up tempo dance mix. It's true to the version found on Sarah's Afterglow. It's just an alternate take of the track. I love it. It's refreshing to hear some mixes of tracks that sound like the originals. The Junkie XL mixes that came out of the track are quite good too, but those are really up tempo, and lose most of the feel of the original. "Got To Be Real" and "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves" by Cheryl Lynn and Cher, respectively, sound perfect. Carly Simon and Megan Mullaly's track is quite good. I enjoyed it. "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor is a perfect addition to this soundtrack. It's appropriate because Sean Hayes' character of Jack delivered the beginning part of the song as a monologue in an episode of the show. It was classic! The Scumfrog Mix of Dido's "White Flag" is really good. I have not heard the original, but Dido's voice is in perfect form and works with the instruments and beats. The Britney Spears "Oops! I Did It Again" is fine. The "Footloose" track is a great track and is a perfect choice for inclusion on the soundtrack. And finally, there is the track with Eric McCormack and Barry Manilow. It's great. There are not that many people who knew that Eric could sing, but boy can he sing! He should cut an album of his own someday. All in all, this collection is pretty descent. I wish that there were more songs on the soundtrack. And some of them should be in longer versions. Particularly the Sarah McLachlan, the "He's Hot", and all the disco tracks. There is plenty of space available on the disc to include more songs, or some other bonus stuff. Some multimedia thing for the computer might have been nice too. And I wish the Jennifer Lopez remix had actually been included and not falsely advertised as being included. Oh well, I can't be bitter about it. I have her remixes album that has the track on it. If you really like at least four or five of the songs on it, I suggest purchasing it. But for the Sarah McLachlan track, it's worth every penny.

Any fan of Will and Grace will want a copy of this cd. This cd includes songs that have been incorporated in particular episodes or songs by guest starring singers. There are classic songs like Elton John's "The Bitch is Back" and remixes of song's like "White Flag" by Dido. Of course, no Will and Grace soundtrack would be complete without a song from Jack's idol, Cher, so "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves is included. My favorite would have to be "The Right Thing to Do", a duet by Carly Simon and Megan Mullally. Its a very nice song and the twosome sound really good together. Eric McCormick does a nice job on his song, "Living With Grace" as well. Repeat guest star, J-Lo, has "Waiting for Tonight" and "Oops...I Did it Again" by Britney Spears is part of the set too. A fun cd from a funny show!!!

Well, of course I love the show. Who doesn't? The cd actually isn't half bad. "He's Hot" done by the cast is totally fab. I didn't like it at first, but the more you listen, the more it grows on you. "World on Fire" by the Great Sarah is a good one. The remix of Dido's "White Flag" is really cool and has come to be one of my favorites. "Living with Grace" is really sweet, and if you're not careful it could make you cry. And of course there are a lot of classics from Cher to Gloria. However, my only complaint is that "Oops I Did it Again" is the album version with the dialogue in the middle.

With this being Will and Grace's final season and the final episode airing this week, this soundtrack will be a HOT item
This combination of 1980 disco and pop standards (I will survive, Gypsys Tramps and Thieves, The Bitch is Back, Its not unusual), modern remakes (like the Bacon Bros's remake of Footloose and Carly Simon (with Megan Mullany) remake of The Right Thing to Do) and stuff from J-Lo, Brittany seems to work. The best cut on the cd is Eric McCormick (with Barry Manilow)singing Living with Grace. This cut alone proves he should record an album himself. Now where is Sean Hayes song-he needed one too! The worst cut is the radio mix of dialog with some sort of hip hop on "He's Hot". If you want a musical memory of this show, it good....I's rather have the DVDS Bennet Pomerantz, AUDIOWORLD

This is one of the best CD's I've purchased in quite sometime. All of the songs are great especially "He's Hot" done by the Fab Four of the millenium. I highly recommend it.

First, this is a comment about the marketing strategy, not the music. The music is fine. In fact, I own most of it on other CDs and would really have appreciated the chance to buy the one or two tracks that I needed. Instead, I have to buy the same music again in lower audio quality than I already own. Pass. Really a bad strategy when I can get the entire CD used for 54 cents plus shipping. (iTunes is the same way so I guess this is the label)

I was pleasantly surprised by this CD. It is upbeat and reflects the style of Will & Grace. I really loved the Carly Simon and Megan Mullally duet "The Right Thing to Do." I was totally unaware of Megan Mullally's beautiful singing voice. There's a sprinkling of catchy tunes from Queen, Cher, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, etc., as well as a couple of disco tunes thrown in that keep it interesting. One of my favorite songs from this mix is the "He's Hot" radio edit with Megan, Eric, Sean and Debra's voices interspersed.

I'm glad they put this album out. I LOVE will & Grace, they are simply the best, and each song on the cd represents SOMETHING that happened on the show.. It's just great. There's even a track where Megan Mullally sings with Carly Simon. For those of you that don't know, that's Karen from the show.. The HILARIOUS one! She can sing too.. :) W&G fans - buy this! It's great for memories.
