Editorial Reviews

As the fourth season of NBC's award-winning comedy begins, Will (Eric McCormack) has just returned from France--alone--while Grace (Debra Messing) is still seeing Nathan (Woody Harrelson). Meanwhile, Jack (Sean Hayes) is adjusting to fatherhood of newfound preteen son Elliot (Sky High's Michael Angarano), while Karen (Megan Mullally) remains, well, Karen. Alas, in "Crouching Father, Hidden Husband," the authorities finally catch up with her (never seen) tax-evading hubbie Stan and toss him in the clink. Grace's relationship with Nathan, on the other hand, continues to blossom until talk turns to marriage in "The Rules of Engagement."

Guest stars include Parker Posey as Jack's stylish supervisor ("Loose Lips Sinks Relationships," "Jingle Balls"), Matt Damon as a closeted choral singer ("A Chorus Lie"), Glenn Close as an eccentric photographer ("Hocus Focus"), and her former co-star Michael Douglas ("Fagel Attraction") as a "detective" with the hots for Will. There are also recurring guests, like Debbie Reynolds as Grace's drama queen mother ("Moveable Feast," a double-length episode), director Sydney Pollack as Will's wayward father ("Cheatin' Trouble Blues"), and Jack’s favorite diva, Cher, as herself ("A.I.: Artificial Insemination," the season finale). By the end of season four, Will and Grace will still be single, Karen’s husband will still be incarcerated (but at least she'll have maid Rosario to keep her company), and Jack will still be, as he used to say, "Just Jack!" As always, the year will end with a cliffhanger as Will and Grace decide to have a baby together. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Product Description

Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes. The whole nutty cast is back once again for season four of one of NBC's sticom staples. With guest stars galore and the hilarious supporting cast of Jack, Karen and Rosario, there's no sign of the laughs slowing down, nor is there a sign that Grace or Will will ever find someone to love. 2001/color/640 min/NR/fullscreen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Episode guide June 21, 2005
Season 4 opens with Grace and Nathan still together but soon on the rebound. Some of the famous guest appearances this season include Cher, Rosie O'Donnell, Parkey Posey, Eileen Brennan, Leslie Ann Warren, Sydney Pollack, Blythe Danner and Michael Douglas.

Episodes include:

#1 - The Third Wheel Gets The Grace - Nathan (Woody Harrelson) feels like the third wheel when Will returns from his vacation and resumes his friendship with Grace. Jack takes Elliot shopping for school clothes.

#2 - Past and Presents - Will's former bully from school is hired as a new attorney at his firm. Grace is upset that Karen's birthday gift to Nathan is better than hers.

#3 - Crouching Father, Hidden Husband - Jacks talks Grace into being Elliot's date at his school prom. Karen pulls one too many practical jokes on Will.

#4 - When Will flubs his lines during an interview with a tv reporter, Jack talks him into attending his acting class. Grace moves in with Karen and quickly becomes accustomed to Karen's extravagant lifestyle. Eileen Brennan guest stars as Zandra.

#5 - Loose Lips Sinks Relationships - Jack's boss has a crush on Will but Will thinks that she he interested in him for a modeling job. Karen and Nathan compare sex stories. Parkey Posey guest stars as Dorleen.

#6 - Grace is upset over Nathan's marriage proposal due to the fact that he popped the question while they were having sex.

#7 - Grace retreats to her bed after her break-up with Nathan. Will tries to cheer her up.

#8 - Star-Spangled Banter - Will and Grace become embroiled in politics when they each support a different city council candidate.

4.0 out of 5 stars this is a great show but the dvds are lacking August 18, 2005
First off, season four is perhaps the best season of the show period. The plotlines were creative, the jokes were incredibly smart, the acting was amazing, and the show was just really in it's sitcom niche. That said, these DVD sets are taking way too long to come out and then are quite expensive for the lack of features on them. I for one do not even consider the "themed featurettes" a special feature as they're pretty much a clip show. It is nice to see the inclusion of outtakes, but I'd much rather see some behind the scenes stuff! I keep hoping that with each DVD release we'll see things getting better, but it's just not happening. However, this season's DVD set is MUCH better than season 3, except for the menu screens.

5.0 out of 5 stars release July 7, 2005
the reason the release took sooooo long was because the cast was renegotiating their contracts and nothing could be released until that was completed and luckily it was resolved!!!! this is a really really great season!

Will and Grace's professionally crazed fan,

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious May 10, 2006

I only discovered Will & Grace in reruns. It's one of the funniest shows on air right now. For those of you who think that the premise is unbelievable, it's not. I've had a best friend who was gay and a lot of the dynamics from the show are true to life. I know having gone through some if it.

Will and Grace are best friends but Will is a gay man and Grace is a heterosexual female. They remain friends no matter what happens even though they do fight and walk away from each other for awhile. They always get back together. Jack and Karen are the friends that makeup the foursome. In Jack's case though he's more leach than friend. He never keeps a job for long, always wants a handout and fancies himself a great want to be actor, dancer and singer. Jack is gay and flamboyant which drives Will nuts because while he is gay he is not outrageously so nor is he effeminant. Karen is filthy rich. She's a pill popping, boozing, abuse giving, well dressed woman who thinks that other folks were created to serve her every desire.

Kudos to the casting deparment. Each member of the foursome creates their character accurately. Normally in tv land, it might take two or three seasons before the players really nail their characters down but the cast of Will and Grace did it in half a season. By the middle of season one, the Karen character had found her niche with the high pitched nasal voice and her sarcastic laugh. All play off of each other very well. In fact I find Megan's (Karen) real voice much more annoying than her false one. All in all I have to say that I am putting this show in my personal list of all time funny shows (All in the Family, Mash, Night Court, Frazier, Absolutely Fabulous) with AITF in the lead of course.

I do wish the studio would get it together and release season five already. What's up with that? Fans are tired of waiting. Come on people get the lead out and crank it up!!
