Book Description

Raised by an alcoholic mother and without a father, Jonna learned at a young age to put her needs on the back-burner. After her mother dies of cancer, she goes on a spiritual journey looking for enlightenment and a purpose for her life. Eventually, she ends up as a volunteer in the relief effort following Hurricane Ike. There she meets a man who will forever change her life.

In the swamps of Louisiana and the hills of Arkansas, Jonna follows her heart to build a life with an American hero - a 20 year veteran of the Army Special Forces. Only after uprooting her whole life, leaving everything and everyone she knows behind, do the pieces of this fairytale start to unravel. Realizing the man of her dreams is actually the stuff of nightmares; Jonna must once again go within and discover why she is a woman willing to love for crumbs.

Jonna Ivin is also the author of the crime thriller 8th Amendment

Attorney Lauren Atkinson has spent her career defending death row criminals. When a murder hits close to home and clues tie her to an old forgotten case, Lauren must stop at nothing to find the killer.

With her marriage crumbling and her life in shatters she begins to question everything she has been fighting for. Will her views on the death penalty change once the killer is revealed?

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you January 23, 2012

I found this book after a link was posted randomly on a website asking people to read and leave reviews. At first I thought it was a fun little read but after a couple of hours I found myself unable to put it down. It offers such an honest glimpse into the author's life and left me realizing that I myself may take people for granted without knowing the real reasons they end up where they are. I would give this book 10 stars if it were possible.

This memoir was awesome! I couldn't put it down. There is a certain humor about it that made me laugh out loud and there was other moments that pulled at my heart strings and made me cry. The journey of this woman is very intersting and i highly recommend it. Thank you

4.0 out of 5 stars Too short January 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a candid look at self discovery. Everyone can relate to times where we're embarrassed by our own behavior. How we can allow ourselves to be abused or taken advantage of with our eyes wide open. Ashamed of our weaknesses. This new writer taps into the emotional roller coaster of self discovery and our battles within with ease and humor. I only wish it were longer and included more of her childhood experiences.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book!!
I can relate to the author and her way of 'existing' as a woman with a low opinion of herself. Settle for whatever you can get, until you finally deserve better than that!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars An accessibly written look at some of the inner workings of dependency...
Although my background is not really like the author's (I grew up with two parents, superficially at least), I found pieces of myself in her story: reacting instead of choosing,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars WILL LOVE FOR CRUMBS
Loved the title, understood the feelings, needed at least one additional proofreading, and wanted to know more about where she went and what she did.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a book about the life of a person who has problems.
This book is well written and it shows how a person can easily have a low self esteem because of what life has dealt them. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story, somewhat awkwardly told. What happened?
I like Jonna Ivin's voice. She seems like someone who writes just as she speaks, and she's candid and frank, funny, occasionally and appropriately vulgar, and seems like someone I... Read more
