I found this book after a link was posted randomly on a website asking people to read and leave reviews. At first I thought it was a fun little read but after a couple of hours I found myself unable to put it down. It offers such an honest glimpse into the author's life and left me realizing that I myself may take people for granted without knowing the real reasons they end up where they are. I would give this book 10 stars if it were possible.

This memoir was awesome! I couldn't put it down. There is a certain humor about it that made me laugh out loud and there was other moments that pulled at my heart strings and made me cry. The journey of this woman is very intersting and i highly recommend it. Thank you

This is a candid look at self discovery. Everyone can relate to times where we're embarrassed by our own behavior. How we can allow ourselves to be abused or taken advantage of with our eyes wide open. Ashamed of our weaknesses. This new writer taps into the emotional roller coaster of self discovery and our battles within with ease and humor. I only wish it were longer and included more of her childhood experiences.

I, like a lot of the other reviewers, finished this book in one day. That wasn't because it was really exceptionally engaging or thought provoking read, though. This book is like the proverbial trainwreck. I couldn't put it down because I just couldn't believe what was really happening. The author tells an incredible story and scratches at the surface of the true role she played in the romance but doesn't really delve into the truth. That is understandable -- I can't imagine how difficult it was to face the humiliation of the situation and tell it all, good and bad, for the whole world to hear. Despite being understandable, the lack of depth takes so much away from the potential of this tale.

The first chapter made me hopeful that the author was going to have an incredible amount of personal growth and ultimately save herself but this just didn't happen in the text and I wonder if it happened in real life. She allowed a lot of innocent people to get hurt by covering for her man and never explicitly accepts responsibility or makes it clear that she knows she wronged not just herself, but others. It is implied, yes, but when people mess up, I want them to admit it directly instead of hinting around at the issue. I was truly shocked when I read that this all played out between two adults at least in their late 30s, if not early 40s. This is the kind of stuff we do when we are young and stupid. The lack of responsibility and ongoing explanation (excuse) that she was waiting to leave him until enough money was saved up is typical of someone young and stupid. It is hard for me to respect a mature woman that acts like an adolescent covering for her bad-boy boyfriend.

Despite my frustration with her choices, I do *like* the author.... As I write this review, I don't want to be too harsh because I don't want to hurt her feelings. I do feel genuinely sorry for her experience and the tale is certainly an interesting adventure. I want her to have grown, learned, and found the respect and love for herself that the woman in this book doesn't have. I want her to accept responsibility and, most of all, I want some confidence that she has changed in a way that this will never, ever happen again to her. If the book had addressed that thoroughly and shown me the changes in her instead of just telling the story itself and then abruptly ending, I would give it 5 stars, easily. As it stands, though, I'm not satisfied.

There are also quite a few glaring grammatical errors in this edition. This should've been a draft and not a novel. Just a little more work, a little more thought, and little more analysis would've taken this to another level. The story is good. It is interesting. It is mostly well written. I really enjoyed this, read it in just a few days when I had time, and I don't typically read "chick" books, but this isn't really a chick book. It's for anyone who's ever felt burnt in a relationship. The author, in my opinion, set herself up to a degree, falling for a guy for some of "what she considered" the right reasons while ignoring plenty of the sensible reasons to keep her distance. I felt as if she unwittingly allowed much of the troubles upon herself but that's what we humans do, isn't it? We take chances after what appears to be the universe working its magic for us, only to find out later that maybe we were seeing through a veil or beer-goggles or something else that impairs 20-20 vision.
The thing I enjoyed the most about this book: the author's humor. She kept me laughing even though I was sympathizing with her every step of the way.
Well done, Ms. Ivin. This story will stay with me.

I'm one of those readers who zeros in on a good book and gets back to it every spare moment to see what happens next. I can say without hesitation that is what happened with Will Love For Crumbs. The author kept me constantly engaged in her thoughts and actions. If you are looking for a memoir that will also make you count your own blessings, this is it. I will definitely recommend to family and friends who don't mind curse words.

I admit that I originally purchased the book because the author is a personal acquaintance, and I wanted to support her in launching her memoir. But within the first few pages, I was fully engaged in the story - its humor, honesty, simplicity and intensity! It only took me a few days to read the whole thing (which is lightning fast compared to my usual book consumption speed) and I was left with a sense of enlightenment. While the story itself held little parallel to my own life, it felt very relatable - the lessons learned are heartfelt and not preachy. Some memoirs have a tendency to feel dry or choppy, but this one flows with a quick pace and feels at moments like a gritty fictional tale (truth is stranger than fiction?). I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story to read!

WORST BOOK EVER WRITTEN. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME. DO NOT BUY THIS.
#1 - I don't think anyone proofread this book. Some examples of mistakes are as follows: "He's had had..." Inconsistently opening/closing quotation marks, making dialogue very hard to follow. Inconsistently capitalizing Al-Anon. Mis-using you're vs. your. And don't get me started on all of her missing commas. I made the mistake of using a pen as my bookmark, and ended up using it to note errors literally every 5-10 pages. She should have paid me - or, quite frankly, a fifth grade language arts student - to be her editor. These errors were very distracting and made it hard for me to take her seriously as an author, when she would willingly publish such a poorly written book.
#2 - The story was even worse than her non-compliance with language rules. It is basically a really long story about a relationship she had, which involved her behaving like a child (I literally had to shake my head at times, when I recalled that she experienced this relationship as a 30-40 year old woman and NOT as a 17 year old); involved her making redundant, ill-informed decisions; and ending the book with no learning. And she calls it a memoir - which further shows that she does not know what words mean, as this book was by no means a memoir. She literally says that she would do it again... and for what? She doesn't say! If she had come full circle or taken something away I could maybe give her a little credit, but she really is just as dumbfounded about herself as we are. The catch is, she literally admits on the back of her book that she is doing this for money. She hopes to turn this into a screenplay - just further glamorizing an idiotic, pointless tale....
#3 - I could complain about so many other elements of this book for so much longer, but I'll save all of our time by ending it here. Read more ›
