I Will Love You For A Thousand Years was a beautiful captivating story from the very first page and this short story said more in its few pages than most books say. It was a beautiful but tragic love story, and this story made me cry, it was that beautiful.

This is the story about a young boy and girl, who for years spent their summers at the lake, she was progressively growing more deaf as the years went by, and he was born into wealth, but they loved each other as young children do. Ginger, though deaf, is an accomplished pianist and all summer long she plays her piano at night and everyone sits outside their cottages and listens. Their last year at the lake when they went into town to eat, Ginger tore the menu in half and wrote on it, and Garret does the same.

Ten years later, Garret is sitting at a bus stop and sees an ad for the orchestra, and he sees Ginger's name, and his dad has him picked up and delivered to the concert with a backstage pass. When Ginger comes out she looks out in the crowd and sees him, and she signs to him with her fingers and then blows him a kiss! After she does her part she steps into the audience and runs to him and they sit down and listen to the rest of the show holding hands. Garrett has no intention of ever letting her go again.

They spend almost a year travelling the world and doing everything and anything that Ginger wants, because Garrett wants to do whatever she wants as long as he is with her. They have the time of their lives. One day they decide to go home for Christmas, and Ginger still has a contract for the following year to do some shows so they go back.

This is where the plot twists and two things happens so unexpectedly, that it ripped my heart apart, and yet the story ends with an unexpected gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME August 16, 2014
Garrett Carkos and Ginger Madsen are in love. Of course they are only sixteen and at that age first love is the best. They have known each other for years and every summer they get together while their parents vacation on the lake. They are just on opposite sides of the lake. Their last summer there they hate to say goodbye and they both write notes on the paper table mat at the diner. This is only 44 pages long but for such a short book there is so much story. Ginger is deaf she has gradually lost her hearing over the years and she is a very accomplished pianist. Garrett goes up and is very wealthy working for his family business. Ten years later Garrett is in town when Ginger is playing and they get together. I don't want to say much more, but this story will make you cry. Trust me read it and you will see why I feel it is a five star story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow Garrett August 25, 2014

Wow this is an amazing short story if you're looking for a short read. Garrett sure manages to pack a life time into a small story and make sure you have the tissues handy. Its the story of a guy and a girl who live across the lake from each other and fall in love Ginger is a deaf concert pianist and Garrett is the son of a greek shipping magnate. This is their story from drifting apart after a while in their younger teenage years to finally meeting again years later & knowing they never fell out of love. It is a good read and Garrett manages to pack in the sad and happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a beautiful love story of lost and found love August 20, 2014

This is a beautiful love story of lost and found love. Garrett is a beautiful and amazing writer, so I wish this would of been longer. It is also told from his perspective which is refreshing to see a man feel such powerful emotions. Because it is so short it jumps quite suddenly from their meeting and falling in love until she is gone from his life, but it draws you in and holds you until the end. Beautifully written and look forward to reading more from Garrett Carkos

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting March 30, 2014

I thought the storyline was good in the beginning, but jumped way too fast to the present. Would've liked more time lapse in the story. Loved the passion of the characters and intensity they displayed towards each other. Would love to be able to do this same thing with my husband, however, not for the same reasons they did. Was a little disappointed with the end. Otherwise, it was a good fairly quick read.
