As a long-time Faith No More fan, I think it's awesome that Chuck Mosley is back out there making music. I have one Cement album (the self-titled one) and it was awesome, but had some short-comings in sound quality (production, not music). Will Rap Over Hard Rock for Food is a great return for Chuck Mosley. The album is great from start to finish, and every song is unique and fresh here. My favorites here are "Come Around", "Tractor", and "Punk Rock Movie". I have to admit that I would have bought the album anyway based on the free mp3 release of Tractor to promote the album, and I was blown away that the rest of the album was just as good. I listen to this one all the way through- there's not one bad moment on it at all. "We Care a Lot" is a highlight here as well. Chuck has obviously been through ups and downs, and in and out of music, and in the end the fact that he can redo this song with Roddy, do it in a way that is both unique and just as good as the originals, and be able to laugh at himself at the same time ("We care a lot... About the fact that I can still get paid for doing this song ...I really care a about the fact that I can still get CDs from Tu-Pac, I really, really mean that"). If you have a chance, pick this one up. And if Chuck has a chance, I beg you to re-release some Cement! Mosley does a great job of putting together great lyrics, one of the most unique voices in the business, and great musicians (yes the band rocks) to make one hell of a comeback. Every time I see this album mentioned anywhere, you see nothing but comments like "Welcome Back, Chuck". Well I agree. Welcome back, the fans care a lot.

Chuck Mosley's first solo album (as he approaches 50 years old) came out last year. As it has been about a year since it came out, and I still find myself listening to it all the way through over and over on my commute to work, I felt that I ought to do what I can to help others understand what a rare and good album this has turned out to be. Chuck hasn't released any music since the early 90's in the band Cement. I actually didn't care for the Cement albums all that much. I was much more partial to his work in Faith No More. But you don't have to be a fan of either band to appreciate this album. This album, I feel, captures what Chuck was always capable of contributing to rock music. To be honest, there really isn't that much "rapping" over hard rock on here, but there is alot of fluidless style change-ups. For a long work in progress, it's easy to see that a lot of love was put into this album, but it never comes across as trying too hard. The writing and charm are good enough that this album was always going to be good, but the excellent production is what I think will help make this able timeless. It already sounds like it could have come out yesterday or 15 years ago and been ahead of it's time. There are no technological gimmicks, just good writing and playing. This album is the only rock album I've heard recently that pulls off sounding like something modern...not something from the late 90's or early 00's that is trying to sound 10 years advanced. It's hard to explain, but I hop you will give this album a chance if you somehow found out about Chuck Mosley.

It's been way to long since we've heard from Chuck. This is an amazing album. Rarely is there a CD that I can listen to from start to finish anymore, but I this one that I do. I'm not going to bother with a track by track review. Just about everything on here is a home run. I hope we don't have to wait so long for the follow up.
