Graveland doesn't disappoint with this release and the music is delivered with focus, precision and passion. I don't recall ever hearing a weak release from them. They definitely set the standard for other Pagan or Viking metal bands. Of the current bands in this category only Enslaved can rival them. All the songs are over 7 minutes except for 'Victoria Divina' which clocks in at just under 6 minutes... The production here is fucking top notch, great battle hymns, choirs from the 'Atlantean Monumental Choir' and 'Ancient Valkyrian Choir' and it all adds to the epic atmosphere. This release is somewhat similar in execution and style to Graveland's The Fire of Awakening. If anything, the production is better. Graveland's drums have never sounded so clear and battle-ready. For those who know this band, you know what you're getting when you get a new one by Graveland. For those who don't, try something new. Nobody else sounds even remotely like this. Heavy, bombastic, evil, relentless pagan black metal at its finest.

... and that says a lot because Graveland has MANY great albums. My favorite album of 2007. The drums are at their best, Darken is a far better drummer than Capricornus (but he does have his charm).

The pace of the album is relentless.
