5.0 out of 5 stars Party party
Unbelievable this version of "I will survive"... many discuss whether the original is a sad or a strong number.. this version by Hermes House Band is a very strong and happy version.
In the same style and good vibes you should try Country Roads by the same band... a splendid totally waste jumping up-and-down party band.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great if your European
Hermes House Band has some phat mixes and they redo old songs really well. But, beware if you live in the US. I'm a student and I live in Europe. I've noticed something at parties here. Europeans just like to listen to fun party music, they're not obsessed about their image like most Americans. If it's fun, they listen to it. They love 80s music and classics and...

They love 80s music and classics and that's why mixes of songs like "I Will Survive" go over so well in Europe. In the US, people won't accept this album as easily. But if you can get people to loosen up and have a good time, this music is perfect. I personally love their mix of Country Roads, but I don't think that's on this CD. That song always reminds me of the good ol' US of A.

5.0 out of 5 stars La la la sneller sneller nog sneller :), May 5, 2011
Hermes House Band is mainly known for their covers. And this time they re-worked gay anthem "I will survive".
This version became very popular in countries like Benelux, Germany (extremely popular during organized outdoor events a few years ago) etc.
This maxi is a perfect gift for every party planner. The track list:
1. Party mix
2. Radio edit
3. Extended version
4. WK edit (sing-a-long version)
5. and extra track "Rotterdam"

"I spent oh so many nights"...dancing to this song :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Hit in modern party Version, January 14, 2000

This review is from: I Will Survive (Audio CD)
The guys from the Hermes House Band sang this all thru the 90's but ever since it turned a hit in 94 in Holland (number 1 in the charts), all other European countries fell for it (Germany, France!) It's a great song. Nice partymusic!

This review isn't written by someone who thinks cover versions of classic tracks border on musical blasphemy. It's good to hear new life injected into old songs every once in a while, and on occasions, these updated equivalents sometimes surpass the quality of the original. That cannot be said for Hermes House Band's take on Gloria Gaynor's undeniable 70s classic, "I Will Survive". In fact, this is one of the absolute WORST covers I've heard recently. No disrespect to the band who covered, John Denver's, "Country Roads" last year is intended. Even so, they have their style and Gloria Gaynor had hers. And the two just don't match. My assumption may have something to do with the fact this - the original 70s version - is so popular still. Regardless of that fact, this new take on the song is rather embarrassing. There's a plethora of alternative mixes on this CD single, but they're all pretty shallow. Even if "I Will Survive" was Hermes House Band's own song, I'd still find the track rather [bad]. Purchase with caution!

Jon.
