I saw this mini-series on TV when it first aired. I thought is was one of the greatest movies I had ever seen, despite it's negative reviews. After it aired, I tried to get a copy of it but was unable to obtain one. When I heard it was being released on DVD, I was quite excited. This movie was just as good the second time around. It is a must see for all women, as its story is empowering.

It's ridiculous how long I've waited for this DVD. I've been searching ever since the miniseries came out, and I'm relieved they finally decided to listen to fans. I found this miniseries amazing and extremely moving. Even its deviations from the original novel were well engineered. I highly recommend this movie for everyone!

Pretty good movie. Ridiculous price though!!! However, a MUST HAVE for Thomas Gibson fans!!! He's so hot & such a romantic leading man in this!! drool-drool! ;)

I actually wish this had been longer so they could've gone more in-depth into the events of these women's lives, but I suppose it's hard to condense close to a century into four hours. I liked seeing the way the characters grew, changed, and influenced one another over the years.

Despite the other reviewers, I ENJOY this miniseries! I like how is shows our historical past. Yes, the acting isn't the greatest, but I can overlook this and be entertained by the content. I love mushy stories with all the drama and find this story charming in most parts. Warning for younger viewers: An adult shown preview this whole miniseries before letting their preteen view it. Overall: Oscar quality? No. Enjoyable? YES!!!

This mini-series aired in 1998, and was so moving that it literally changed my life. It brought me closer to the women in my family and is perhaps the building blocks of the feminist that I have become. I was so in love with this movie that I tried EVERYTHING to get my hands on a copy. I checked every search engine on the internet for months, wrote to the network, without a response; I wrote to the UCLA movie database, again without a response. I had given up on it years ago...only to find a copy on the highlight rack in Best Buy last week. I screamed out so loud and started crying, jumping up and down and hugging my best friend until she was ready to leave because she was so embarrassed. The point is, this movie is THAT good! It is such a tear jerker as well, that I had to call my grandmother and take out all my girlfriends for a girls night. If you are deliberating as to whether or not you should buy this movie, BUY THE MOVIE! I promise you won't regret it!

This is a great movie of a womans courage to go out and experience life for her self. She sets her own goals and keeps them. She strugles but doesn't ever stop until she gets what shes sets out for. Brilliantly masterly made.

I have seen this miniseries on TV when it first came out and for years I have been searching for a copy. Finally I could obtain it. It is a very uplifting experience and a great entertainment but most of all I admired Ms. Thompson's performance although she was in the company of a very talented and superior cast. I have always seen her in comedy and the stellar dramatic performance she has brought to this work is a genuine living proof that she is indeed a great actress and a rare talent.

I am 13 years old and this movie really showed how far women have come in this society. We had no say in what we wanted and were only used to have children and it is amazing that only 40 years ago we were still treated terrible it has amazing facts in it showing that women are important in todays socitey and we need to stick to what we believe in sure there a few inapropreate parts for a younger audience but it has terrifac morels in it and how women and girls shouldn't give up on your dreams and should remember what are back rounds are and who we truly love and how women are equel to men in this country buy this movie u will love it. I had a lifetime movie day 2 days before school started and this movie really helps u about everything and just plain makes u feel good please get it it makes u happy and sad u will love it

I bought this movie based on the amazon reviews and was very disappointed. The acting was terrible in this movie and I can't tell you how much "DRAMA" was over done in this movie. I would have given this movie 0 stars if possible.
