About the Author

Lucy Cousins has created many books about Maisy, who has since become the star of her own animated TV series. Lucy won the 2002 Smarties Book Prize Gold Award for the Under 5s category with her picture book Jazzy in the Jungle. She lives in Petersfield, Hampshire, and has four children.

About I'm the Best, she says, "I had the idea for this book after winning a tennis competition. I loved telling all my friends and family about it, but then I realized that I was probably showing off, like Dog!" Lucy Cousins lives in Hampshire with her partner, four children and very fluffy dog.

Our one and a half year old boy got this book for Christmas this year and loves it. It is full of almost every kind of vehicle you could imagine (bus, motorcycle, boat, fire engine, sled, rocket, etc.), which makes it just about ideal for him at this stage. Each page says something like, "How will Cyril get to the beach? By tractor?" Then you open the big flap and it says, "No. By train!" It's another winner. Way to go Maisy!
