5.0 out of 5 stars This book was very comforting in a time of extreme stress.
Anyone who's ever moved can tell you that packing the boxes is only the tip of the iceberg. I made a point of reading this book when my stress levels reached their peak --- and somehow it calmed me. It seems every fear I had about relocating to another area was discussed in a rational and helpful manner. The author had ideas on everything from helping your children...

1.0 out of 5 stars What a let down!!
I bought this book based upon Amazon reader reviews. There was little advice that was other than common sense, and much that was silly at best (for example bring water from your old home). The major points could be summed up: have an open mind, be flexible, bring old things so you are comfortable, and find ways to join and meet new people. There you have it. Save your...

3.0 out of 5 stars Padded review, July 14, 2006
By
This review is from: Will This Place Ever Feel Like Home?, New and Updated Edition: Simple Advice for Settling In After You Move (Paperback)
Most of the reviews for this book (8 of the 13 at the time I read them) were written by "A Reader" from undisclosed location, spanning review dates from late 1998 to mid 1999. High star rating from the many postings of "A Reader." Suspect the reviews have been padded.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book actually made a difference in my actual move., June 17, 1999
By A Customer
My last move was only a few blocks but because it came at a time of a lot of other life changes, it was the toughest move of my life. Thank goodness a friend recommended WILL THIS PLACE EVER FEEL LIKE HOME? Thanks to this informative, compassionate book from someone who has been there herself, the answer is a resounding, "Yes!" I am at home in my home today, and I am convinced that without Leslie Levine's book it would have taken a lot longer, if it would have ever happened at all. If you're moving, or if you moved in recent memory and things don't quite feel right, order this book right this minute. And if you have a friend who's moving, forget the wine and candles and potted plant: give him or her WILL THIS PLACE EVER FEEL LIKE HOME? Then expect your friend to send YOU the wine and the candles for giving something that truly made a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great insight on the moving/moved experience., October 19, 1998
By A Customer
I found this book to offer excellent perspective on a "moving experience." Not so much the move, but what to do before, during, and after the move. There are lots of books about how to actually move, but this one provided trememdous, useful suggestions for how to become part of a new community... to achieve a sense of belonging. I recommend it highly because of its unique perspective and great quantity of practical advice that anyone can implement to great effect.

5.0 out of 5 stars a must have book for family relocation, October 17, 1998

Leslie has captured into one book an insighful, compassionate, and extraordinarily helpful guide for anyone who is contemplating or currently dealing with the uprooting of a relocation. Anyone who has ever done so knows that feeling- "will this place ever feel like home?" Leslie understands those feelings because she's been there herself, and she helps readers feel understood, supported, and assisted. I would recommend this book for anyone who is recently relocated, thinking about it, or as a great holiday gift for someone you know who is doing so.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to build a new life!, April 30, 2002
By
DBD (Columbia, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Will This Place Ever Feel Like Home?, New and Updated Edition: Simple Advice for Settling In After You Move (Paperback)
"Having moved across town and across the country on nine (9) occasions from Rochester, NY to all parts of CA, back to Rochester, NY and now to Columbia, MD, I can assure readers that this book offers an island of calm in the "ocean's roar" of the moving experience. Leslie's writing reflects a diverse group of movers who's life experiences pave the way for a more peaceful transition from a loved home to a new house and community. Too often, "movers" are caught up in the process of moving and forget moving is only the first part of uprooting your life and beginning anew. The hardest part is not the move but rather the new beginning. Having a resource that encompasses all parts of your life experience is invaluable. Thanks Leslie!

4.0 out of 5 stars Someone finally dealt with this., October 19, 1998
By A Customer
In these times where we follow our spouses and our jobs to new cities and new lives, it is finally time that someone dealt with the issues that these changes precipitate. Ms. Levine does a fine job of letting us know that the trials and stresses that comes with moving are not unique to us.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Home truly is where the heart is.", June 29, 1999
By A Customer
Leslie reaches deep into the heart and provides us with a most valuable resource to acclimate ourselves and our families to a new environment. Her tried and true tips for success in any community obviously speak from experience. Leslie's cup is overflowing with wisdom that she shares so readily with us in this book. I was also privileged to see her on the ERA tour!
