Special Features

Arrabal's second film; I WILL WALK LIKE A CRAZY HORSE (J'Irai Comme in Cheval Fou) forsakes the politcal allegory present in Viva La Muerte for a dramatic discovery of faith and organized religion. The story follows a man, Aden, played by the American George Shannon, who flees society after the death of his controlling mother. Out in the wilderness he encounters the beauty of nature, and under the tutelage of a hermit named Marvel, becomes a "normal homme." Aden falls desperately in love with Marvel, who can communicate with animals, the clouds, and the sun. Upon returning to civilization, Marvel in tow, Aden is more aware than ever of the hideous and hypocritical nature of human society. I WILL WALK LIKE A CRAZY HORSE has long been considred a masterpiece of surrealist film and stands as Arrabal's most delirious and devlish picture, and outrageous portrait of both other-wordly beauty and inner torment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A surreal gem March 2, 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This film is wonderful, very surreal and a little disjointed but never ever boring, far from it there are more surprise's and shocks in this then anything that's come out of Hollywood in the last 25 years . Think Jodorowsky, meets Monty python, with a pinch of Ken Russell , and your on the right track heading to oblivion but boy what a great ride. I wont go into the synopsis you can find that elsewhere but if avant garde surrealism is your bag then take a chance on this one, you wont be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your chance! May 9, 2004

I don't think this item has ever been released on video or been anyhow this available this way after it was exhibited, and I don't think It'll ever be again. Starring Emmanuelle Riva from Alain Resnais' " Hiroshima My Love", I consider this to be even better than the other DVD that's out there by Fernando Arrabal ( " Viva la muerte"), even though I think his masterpiece is " The three of Guernica" and that the three of them use the same editing technique of flashback copiously. Call it pretentious, call it gratuitiously violent, call it discusting or whatever, these were the first works of its kind when they were made, and I have never seen anything like it. Fernando Arrabal is an influential artist that deserves attention, and this DVD, as well as the other, have gone beyond the call of duty of the release of these DVDs, which include invaluable interviews with the man himself. Great reflection on occidental culture schemes, specially those regarding religion, and great achievement of beauty through horror, humor and simultaneity. Panic!
