5.0 out of 5 stars If Mozart Makes 'Em Smart, So Will The Roches...
As a professional musician and music teacher I am convinced that the harmonies of the Roches can expand a child's ability to make music. While all of the Roches' work is GOOD for the ear, this one has children's themes that make them extra appealing. My 5 1/2 year-old has grown up with this CD and my 5 month old loves it already. 1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong music on this CD; but the real CD is great
I needed to return this CD because the music burned on the CD was not the Roches or their songs; it was completely the wrong music with this CD case. Amazon refunded without question. I have the original CD with different artwork; the music by the Roches on this CD is great and the kids love it! If you buy the CD with this new artwork, you may have the same...

5.0 out of 5 stars If Mozart Makes 'Em Smart, So Will The Roches..., April 30, 2001

HEARING THESE HARMONIES IS GOOD FOR YOUR CHILDREN. The gentle female voices also are appealing to little ones who are used to hearing momma's voice. I will continue listening to this one long after my boys are grown.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Barney!!, December 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
I am back to re-buy this CD after too numerous loan outs to friends who were going bonkers listening to Barney tapes and CDs in their minivans. My daughters (5 and 3) really jam to this, and I sing the Laundry Song in my head whenever I tackle that particular chore-- the song makes me smile; laundry does not. You can turn this up on long roadtrips (and even enjoy singing with it over and over) with the kids and not have visions of purple dinosaurs dancing in you head later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy songs & gorgeous harmonies, August 15, 2000

Our kids (3 & 6) as well as their parents (!) never get tired of this CD. Listen closely for all of the little phrases/comments you hear in the background of some of the songs - they are a riot! This is absolutely our favorite kids CD - there isn't even a close second.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second purchase!, July 20, 2005
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
Owned the tape and wore it out! Even my 14 year old (Who relates to "Disappointed" and "When Kids are Mean") can't wait for it to arrive. FUN!! Dance with your kids!! You should see us singing (with hand motions!) in the car to "Uncle Dave Misbehaves" You won't regret the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Pleasure, December 17, 2003
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
How often do you play an album knowing that it will refulfill (if that is a word) your faith in the human race? If you own this album you probably know what I'm talking about. This is an album, not only to reconfirm your roots as a child, but to help you help yourself dream forward. Sorry for the dippy sounding review, but this album will send you back to where you need to be. And may help you sort your self out a bit if needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Songs Parents Can Enjoy!, February 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
Great music! My toddlers love the songs now and since they keep my interest, I think they will be a favorite well beyond most of our kids music collection. Try also "Sky Blue Catfish" by the affiliated group 'Music Workshop for Kids'.

First let me say that this is right up there with Buckwheat Zydeco's Choo Choo Boogaloo and Sweet Honey In the Rock's I Got Shoes as smart, soulful music for kids that not only does not insult its listeners, but illuminates and inspires. It's true, the first bars my child ever sang were from the Boodance. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for driving with little ones., April 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
My two young children and I LOVE this recording. It's the perfect soundtrack for a long drive with kids: silly and sweet and toe-tapping, but it doesn't amp the kids up. It's about feelings and thoughts that are unique to childhood. Sometimes I even listen to it when I'm driving solo!

4.0 out of 5 stars A kids CD for kids of any age, January 24, 2002
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
Bought this CD when our daughter was just a few months old--now she's past 4 years and loves listening to these ladies. Nice variety of fast and slow tunes (Mom's personal favorite is "The Laundry"), all with friendly lyrics and interesting themes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic album for the whole family, September 4, 2002
This review is from: Will You Be My Friend (Audio CD)
Six months ago, I was driving my family to the airport in my sister-in-law's minivan, and my nine-month-old baby girl was getting extremely fussy. My sister-in-law popped in Will You Be My Friend, citing it as her family's favorite, and the tape she used to make it through four children's worth of family car trips.
The tape was at the beginning of My New Bycicle, and when it kicked in, it took all of ten seconds for my daughter to stop crying. She became peacefully transfixed by the music; you could see her listening closely to it, it was very cute.

My wife and I bought the tape for our own car, and it has never failed us. If our daughter gets car cranky, we just pop this album in, and everyone is happy. The soothing harmonies help my daughter relax and endure being strapped into a carseat, while the strength of the songwriting appeals to my wife an I as music lovers.

I wouldn't give five stars to a childrens' ablum that only my child liked--those are the ones that torture parents. We've given this album to many friends with babies and toddlers, and all have reported similar success and satisfaction.

This adult-friendly childrens' ablum belongs in every family's music collection.
