Amazon is pretty good on this with getting it to you on the day of release. a couple times i have been lucky and gotten it a day early. but also depends on the carrier, i usually get them from UPS, and unfortunatly im at the end of a route, so ill probably get mine about 8pm.

I am a little wary of pre-purchases here, but I am the the most impatient person in the world. I've had a few occasions where I pre-ordered so early that free or super-cheap Day-of-Release shipping wasn't available yet. So I'd up going to GameStop and buying the game on release day even though I had the CE coming from here too. But if you can select "Release Day Shipping" for like a buck when checking out, you should be fine.

Also, if you have it delivered to your office or place of work, you'll get it earlier in the day, in my experience.

In either case, we'll be getting 5 days early access. . .ergo, codes. Logically, it is most likely that this will be another case where even getting a disk in the shipment is pretty pointless. -- Hell, when I got Skyrim and tried to install I had to activate it in steam FIRST and accidentally -downloaded- through steam instead of off the disk anyway. Which, kinda pissed me off actually. Tho that was more for when I tried to install it without net when mine was cut off.

Whatever, we should be fine.

I contacted amazon to ask if Release Date Delivery will be available and they said that currently it is not available until they can verify their inventory availability. However if you preorder and choose one day shipping they said that when the option becomes available, the shipping time will automatically be upgraded to release day delivery.

Thanks, A247! That's what I was looking for.

But Kristopher had the better answer. The box can get here a month late as far as I'm concerned! I'll be playing ESO on 3/31.

They (most mmmo's) have a grace period, so even if we do not get the game release day we should still be good.

Posted on Jan 31, 2014 10:23:31 AM PST
So since we have extra days to play does that mean we'll get the game/be able to play on 3.31.14? Or does that mean others won't be able to really play until 4.9.14?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 31, 2014 11:44:50 AM PST
JuggNuttz says:
you will get a code at some point to input on your ESO account, then will download the game and be able to play on 3-31. on 4-4 you will need to input your CD-Key, they will give you a grace period of a couple days probably before you get locked out for not having a valid Key yet. the game releases on 4-4, so non pre-orders will start on that day, and will have to input a Key before playing most likely.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately release day delivery isn't gonna cut it, since we'll get 5-day early access. Unless we can use the code we'll get e-mailed to play early, which I'm hoping. Then I GUESS I can wait until official launch day to gawk at my fancy pet Little Mo'.

This is the exact opposite from what amazon representative told me. I got an email from someone involved in the promotion department (not your typical customer service) and they stated this-"We only offer the Release-Date Delivery option after we've confirmed available inventory with our suppliers and are certain we can meet our delivery promise to you.

Unfortunately, it looks like you placed your order before the Release-Date Delivery option was available; this means that your order won't automatically upgrade to Release-Date Delivery. In order to take advantage of this delivery option, you'll need to cancel your existing pre-order and place a new order for the item".

God I wish they would be consistent.

I've never had a problem with release-date delivery. I ordered my Xbox One in May 2013 and it automatically received release date delivery when a date was announced. All games I order prior to release-date delivery being an option are automatically changed. Maybe it has to do with having Prime?

Truth says:
I've had that happen on other games, they aren't going to give you free release date delivery if you already placed the pre order before they offered release date delivery. I already pre ordered but just to be safe I went with one day delivery.

I too havent had a problem with Release Day Delivery. They have said to cancel the order and redo it, but i decided against that as it said sold out.... so who knows if i would have gotten my order back, so i left it as free 2-day. Lo and behold, still got it on release day. this has happened to me twice with CE versions of games. I do have Prime aswell, so maybe thats a perk of Prime too?

C. Norway says:
Anyone gotten their access code from Amazon, yet? The item description says they would send it out within 2 days of ordering...no sign of it yet.

Also...looks like the PC version is sold out...

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2014 11:21:33 AM PST
Nope. I contacted Amazon and they said I would be emailed by a specialist with the code within 2 days. Few hours later, I got an email saying:

Hello,

I've checked your order # 002-9439722-1381013 for "The Elder Scrolls Online: Imperial Edition - Multiple (Windows and Mac)".

I can confirm that you will receive the codes after the order is shipped.

So I contacted them again (Still in chat now) and they said the item is out of stock (even though I told them I pre-ordered on Jan 30) and that I would receive the code once the game shipped. After a lot of explanation of what Early Access means, the person I'm chatting with is currently looking into it and has been for about 10min. Really hope this doesn't turn into a big mess.

I have a copy from Gamestop (gift cards) ordered AND a copy from Amazon. This is to cover my wife and I.

I haven't gotten a code from either place, yet.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 3, 2014 11:32:32 AM PST
The code from Gamestop should be printed on your receipt. You should double check. If it's not there (like it suggests on Gamestop.com), I'm thinking Bethesda hasn't distributed the Early Access codes to retailers yet and all the retailers are confused as hell right now lol

C. Norway says:
Chris....ordered it via gamestop, online. Had a free one day shipping code (left over from a shipping issue with something over X-mas) and a bunch of gift cards. Not on my electronic receipt....and, like amazon, they promise a code within 2 days in the item description.

Ahh I see, I thought you pre-ordered in-store. Well, I just finished talking with Amazon Support and the woman I spoke with said she's going to speak to the higher ups and see what's going on and then get back to me today hopefully, but suggested it may take 1-2 business days.

Considering you haven't got yours from your Gamestop online order, I'm just going to assume Bethesda hasn't distributed the codes yet. Tried reaching out to them, but haven't heard anything.

Tessa says:
Basically, if you have not received your code within 2 days of pre-ordering from your online retailer, then you need to contact them.

It looks like it already is turning into a big mess.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 4, 2014 2:32:16 PM PST
Actually, Best Buy and Green Man Gaming both had their codes sent to their customers who purchased this game within a few hours of their pre-orders. So it's not a Bethesda issue.

I'm always super polite whenever I talk to support, but I swear, these people are milking us for 5 star ratings without actually doing anything.

This is out of control Amazon.
