I bought the standalone when it came out, played it and beat it and then sold it used, but I kept my saved game files just in case. Would I be able to use them with this version?

I hope so because I did the same thing. I was/am a Level 73 with over 323 hours (PS3) and I would love to pick right up and use my Breten battle mage on the new DLC! But then again, this game was so epic, I actually wouldn't mind starting over with a brand new character now that I know how I would build a new one. I would build a straight up mage and use nothing but magic and spells!!

I just posted the same question and realized it had already been asked here. I too purchased the original and played through it and sold it back. Now I want to play the 3 DLC packs and I may as well buy this version to save money on that. As you say, question is, will we be able to load our characters and progress from the save file on our PS3 to play in this version. I would think so, but I don't want to drop $60 to find out. I am sure its not returnable if that doesn't work out....

Since I have a humongous backlog (thanks to Skyrim), I will most likely buy it when it's $20-$30. I know if I get it now, all my the games will be pushed aside. Anyways, by then, I'm sure I'll know if my current save file will work for the Legendary Edition. I think the best thing for all of us to do, is keep checking back to see what others are saying before buying it, and we should find out by at least August or September.

Well Bryan, I have bought both special editions that came with the DLC's of the Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas which are both the same format of game and made by Bethesda also and with those they just made it a 2 disc set. One was the game and the other was all the DLC packs you had to install to your game system. So to answer your question, I do believe you will be able to load your previous save on the new edition since the disc is still just the actual game. At least that's how it's been for the Fallout series. Oh and I also have the game of the year edition of Oblivion which is the previous installment in the Elder Scrolls series and they did that the exact same way too with the 2 disc set.

Yes your old save from the initial Skyrim will be available to play if you get the new addition. This was my question when I bought it earlier and I tried it out as soon as I Got home. Basically, the original game and DLC are two different parts of the disc because you have to actually install each DLC from the disc onto your system. So when you start up the game, before or after you install the DLC, it is exactly the same as the initial release.
