From Library Journal
Produced under the auspices of Victoria magazine, these cassettes represent recordings of live performances. Actress Marian Seldes gives a one-woman presentation of novelist Willa Cather that features selections from Cather's novels, poems, and essays. Additionally, she reads the short story, "Peter," in its entirety. Julie Harris and Richard Kiley take on the roles of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in an adaptation of two plays by Laurence Housman and extracts from the Queen and the Prince's writings. The third cassette features Rosemary Harris reading from the works of Anglo-Irish writer Elizabeth Bowen. Included are four complete short stories and excerpts from two of Bowen's novels. All three of these titles are excellent in terms of subject matter, performance, and production. The airbox packaging will necessitate repackaging for circulation, and the producers should have included bibliographic inserts, but these recordings remain a priority purchase.?Nann Blaine Hilyard, Fargo P.L., N.D.

Review
"A gentle, easy listen, well read by Seldes. I enjoyed remembering what a broad range of ideas Cather can present in such a narrow geography." --
Feminist Bookstore News September/October 1997"Distinguished actress Marian Seldes captures the essence of Willa Cather in selections from 'My Antonia,' various letters, and the short story, 'Peter.'" --
B'Nai B'Rith Life, January/February 1997"Seldes reads superbly and with great depth of feeling. This could be a painless way to introduce young people to one of our greatest American writers." --
Kliatt, September 1996
