I had to purchase this book for a class in school, but I wish that I had saved my money!

Theory is obviously important for establishing a treatment framework...but this is ridiculous.

I recommend it to anyone who is interested in occupational therapy and occupational science.

I ordered this book for one of my Occupational Therapy classes and I was instructed to read chapter 47. I found it kind of impossible to read chapter 47 since it started in the middle of chapter 46 and I was missing pages 497-528. I enjoy reading this book, but not the abundance of missing pages.

The copy of the 11th edition I received had pages 353-400 printed twice in a row, which means pages 401-448 were missing. Hopefully the publisher will pull these copies out of circulation. I need to reorder, and hopefully the problem will be fixed on the next copy I buy. But, I just wanted any students out there to know to check these page numbers to make sure you didn't get a bad copy so you have time to get another book before classes start.

Very broad, not much depth. Basically, a picture book for grad students.

I found this book to be an expensive waste of time and money. The cornerstone text of our discipline provides overviews of many areas that may be suitable as an introduction to the discipline, but even viewed from this charitable perspective, I found the chapters too brief and general to be of any use to me.

My advice to new students: you are going to be told to purchase so many terrible books that do little to support your learning. Find alternative ways to meet your needs, as there is so much redundant information here, and many alternative methods for meeting your learning needs.

My professors rarely tested us on book material anyway, usually just taking test questions from their own power points, making the purchase of this and many other books superfluous. You are already spending many thousands of dollars on your graduate degree, and after the births of your children are added to the burden of student loan repayment, you will likely die in debt unless you marry a doctor. Therefore, do not feel obliged to support the occupational therapy textbook cottage industry. Borrow from your friends. Read your professors' power points. Do online research. If all else fails, rent the books from your university bookstore, but do not, I repeat do not buy them unless you have already read the book and decide you want it for some kind of memento in your golden years.

This book is good if you're interested in learning about the concepts and principles of occupational therapy, but it doesn't really get into the assessment and dysfunctions you'll experience in OT. It's a good book though, even though it's huge and a pain to carry around. The chapters are EXTREMELY short (like 5-6 pages at the most) and it's an easy read.

This is a very good book. Written in simple language and very easy to understand. I love the way the author uses everyday life activities to explain concepts. He makes concepts come alive to the reader. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in occupational therapy and occupational science.
