Product Description

The RC Flying Bass will turn your world upside down! Take the reins of a Flying Bass fish, and let it float from room to room. The infra-red controller provides 360 turning control and tail fin control. Steer the nylon fish in any direction! Every motion is life-like and a fish bobber is included. Hours of flying fun will be at your fingertips. Control your Air Swimmer from up to 40 feet away, but keep it indoors. Before the air swimming takes place you have to fill the remote controlled fish up with helium. To do this, head to a balloon shop, florist, or party store and fill it up. It will stay inflated for weeks, and once the party's over, refill it again and again. Defy nature and make fish fly with an Air Swimmers balloon! 4 AAA are required. Product dimensions: Length (with tail): 57 inches, Height (with fins): 36 inches.

This was the last of my three "Air Swimmers" Remote Control Inflatable Flying Fish I ordered. It came on the last day expected. Upon inspection it appears to be the genuine article as advertised it carried the WMC (William Mark Corporation) distribution trademark. This assembles just like the Shark version except for the extra top fin and optional inflatable bobber with attached line and the stick on paper hook. Placement of the motorized pod on the "fish's" underbelly for proper diving and climbing action would then depend on whether you wish to add the optional hook, line and bobber or not. I opted not to since it would be another thing to keep inflated and watch out for while operating the "fish." Couldn't be happier ... it works just as it should. No problem with helium leaks or premature deflation.

As with the other Air Swimmers I purchased, I wondered about the feasibility of storing this flyer or compacting it for travel so I used industrial strength velcro pre-cut pads instead of directly adhering the upper and lower fins onto the balloon. Seems to work like a charm. I can now detach the fins whenever I need to or re-attach them very easilly. Did the same on the three pads on top of the motorized pod on the under belly of the balloon. I can also reposition the pod where needed for proper diving and climbing action should I decide to use the optional hook, line and floating bobber. Kept the tail fin hooks permanently adhered using the enclosed double-sided sticky pads.

Just with all the infrared remote controlled "fish" from Air Swimmers, you must make sure to point the handheld controller in the direction of the floating fish. An unobstructed line of sight is best. Practice makes perfect. It takes a bit of time to master the swimming, diving, climbing and turning motions. Would probably be a big help if the remote were RC based rather than IR based. But for the price and wow factor ... it's just fine.

READ WHOLE REVIEW I made some mistakes you can learn from.
I came across a video on YouTube of these things. So I ordered two different ones. I assembled one and the other is a gift. OMG!!! I had so much fun.

Delivery:
Delivery is delivery, I wasn't expecting it yesterday so I had no issues. It arrive in a small box about the size of a double thick, gaming laptop in about a week.

Assembly:
The directions were confusing. READ THEM THOROUGHLY before attempting assembly (not the pictures).
Use the YouTube instructions, if you are visual.
Double sided tape is specific to specific parts, so double check before removing the tape from the paper. I made the mistake of haphazardly sticking the double sided tape on before reading the instructions (so did the YouTube instructions apparently). But it's a minor thing. All worked in the end.
Overall, it took me about 20 minutes to put it together because I watched so many YouTube videos before ordering it.

Product Quality:
The external parts are very flimsy. It needs to be, in order to maintain light weight. No problems with broken parts during assembly or flying. But be careful of the thin rods in the fins. Likely breaking point.

Ease of use:
Very easy to use. LOL!!!!! So much fun. Took about 5 minutes to get the buoyancy right. Temperature affects the buoyancy so carry extra clay with you if you go from place to place. Outside use is NOT RECOMMENDED. But if you do try it outside, use extra clay for ballast. My flying Bass wanted to float away until I put more clay to weight it down. And the slightest breeze will carry it away from you. Don't use it outside.

Durability:
I had my Air Swimmer for 1 day before it broke. My fault though.

first one popped before we got it inflated, amazon was super at replacing it just in time for Christmas. the idea of a remote control flying fish is great, but it doesn't perform well. a lot of steps to put the thing together, probably won't last very long since it's elastic bands and flimsy wires. doesn't respond as well as we'd like, hard to fly around if there are any 'drafts'. lots of fidgeting with it to get it to fly. we fortunately have high ceilings so it's somewhat fun to watch it swim across the room. it's not very expensive and does have that initial 'wow' effect.

Great toy for kids, I bought this for my nephew for Christmas and he loved it! But, I think the adults liked it just as much as he did.

The bass was life-like as the description met the product. Glad we got it. Helium is a little pricey, cost around $35 to fill it up.

Once this item is blown up and calibrated, it was loads of fun!! But it was not easy getting to that point. First off, you have to get the balloon blown up at a party store (assuming you don't have a helium can around the house!). That cost about $10. Then the calibration took a good 30-45 minutes.

When it was ready to go, we had a blast with this product -- but with any helium item, the helium fades and recalibration is necessary. We got lazy and only used it the first time around and then let it die a slow death in my son's room.

you need to assemble it yourself, which requires some skill and since it is essentially a balloon with things attached, you need to have extreme care when pasting the components because if you paste them slightly wrong, the engine won't work as expected and the balloon may get compromised

also it is very hard to achieve a good balance when placing the weights inside of the engine case. it is very easy to get it stuck on the ceiling
