Installation was easy, two screws on the rear sight.

Wish I could have mounted, as the sight was quality and exactly what I wanted.

The firesight is very easy to see in the peep, eye relief is excellent.

Installed this sight set on my 336A. Installation was very easy. I received 2 front sights with different size dovetails. I filed the base of the front sight for my rifle just a bit at a time until I was able to get it started into the dovetail with my soft hammer, then used a punch to center. Rear sight was very simple, just two screws on top of reciever. That was it! Sight picture looks great, 10x better than stock buckhorn sights. Firesight is very bright and small diameter fiber optic rod centers very well. Adjustments are not click type. You loosen the adjustments screws and slide horizontally and/or vertically. There are vertical lines for reference but no horizontal lines. Once i'm sighted in I dont adjust so i'm ok with it. Contrary to other reviews I have seen you do not need to remove the aperture ring to make adjustments. Range trip this weekend! 5 STARS for installation, initial impression, & price

The product was of the high quality expected from Williams. The sight package was easy to install and fuctioned very well. I would recommend this package to anyone who is considering installing apeture sights on their Marlin 336C rifle.

Not a fan of the notch rear/bead front combo that is stock on the 336W that i use as my brush gun. Especially when you are going after game that blends into the background. Putting a scope on a lever gun is ridiculous if you ask me, so that wasn't going to happen. Looked at a couple different options and went with the firesight.

Installation was easy, two screws on the rear sight. The front sight was perfectly sized. Little bit of work with a mallet and punch and it slid in...lots of resistance so I don't believe its budging. Took it to the range shooting 160 grain 30-30 LEVERevolution from Hornady. Easy to pick up the front sight, easy to index on target, nice tight groups because of the consistent sight picture.

The bad. The rear sight is adjustable for both windage and elevation, but only the ELEVATION has index marks. WTF? Why couldn't they put simple index marks for windage? What makes it even more difficult is that the tensioner screw for windage is either in or out. No way to keep tension on it, so it is almost impossible to make fine windage adjustments. I ended up taking my jewelers flat head and scoring the top of the windage plate myself that way I had an idea where I started from and could adjust from there. Once I scored the windage plate a few times I was able to adjust and was shooting a 1.75" group at 50 yards. Just wore out the middle of the target.

Bottom Line. This would have EASILY been a five if the sights came with a windage index - C'mon Mr Williams!!! The scale doesn't even have to make sense (i,e. each hash is 1" at 100yds) just something to let you know where you started from so you can adjust without too much guessing. The index marks are already on the elevation ramp, just put it on the windage plate too!

If your Marlin is a 30aw model, or any variation that does'nt have a ramp front sight, then you will need to order a special front sight that is .570 high and fits into the dove tail .Have'nt shot with mine yet but they seem very well made.

I put this on my Marlin 336. Due to my aging eyesight I was having trouble using the factory sights. The peep allows me to pick up the red front ramp easily. I installed the rear sight myself but the front required me to take it to my local gun shop to tap out the old sight and put the new one on. I just didn't have the proper tools at home and it was only $5 to get it done.

I used the rear peep to replace the rear sight on my rio grande and it works perfect. Best upgrade you can do for your rifle as far as I am concerned.

The set comes with two front red fiber optic sights and the rear peep sight. The rear sight bolts on easily if you have a standard tapped receiver. The old front sight is driven out (from left to right looking down the barrel) with a brass punch. The dovetail on the new front sight must be filed to fit and inserted into the barrel dovetail (from right to left). My set came with two front sights, both about .450 inches tall with standard 3/8 inch dovetails. One was 1/4 inch wide (looking down the barrel) that I used on my 1894. The other was 3/8 inch wide. I actually need a .500 inch tall sight, but was able to use this sight by putting the rear sight as low as it could go (just below the bottom index mark). I ordered a taller front sight also.

The sight set would get 5 stars but there are no index marks for the windage adjustment and no directions. I knew the front sight probably would be too short, since it is for a different caliber rifle so no problem there. I've seen other peep sights at this price for just the rear sight.

I used this sight for a while on my hunting rifle since most of the shots I take are fairly short range. These sights cost me a deer twice. The first one was a fairly long shot, so I did not think too much about it. The second occasion, I got two easy close range shots off at a deer. Neither shot hit the deer, and both pulled to the left. On looking closer at my gun, I noticed the rear sight was flopping around both horizontally and vertically, even though I had tightened it completely. The sight was far out of alignment from where I had it originally, causing the gun to pull as far left as it did. In addition, the fiber optic bead was intact when I had loaded the gun in my truck that morning, but broke sometime during the same trip. These sights cannot be counted on for a reliable gun.
