I made my first T-day dinner and used many recipes from this book. The Sourdough/Apple stuffing was a huge hit!! As will all WS books, it is a beautiful text. This is truly an entertaining cookbook with decor tips, beverages, and after holiday meals.

I bought this book for a little added help with hosting my 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner. I loved the entertaining tips and centerpiece ideas. It has Thanksgiving recipes and decorating ideas by region; a California Thanksgiving, a Southern Thanksgiving, etc. This is my 2nd Williams Sonoma book and I will continue the collection - I am hooked. If you are looking for a classy cookbook with elegant recipes and great presentation tips and numerous pictures, this is the book you will want to spend your money on.

I should start by saying that I am clumsy when it comes to cooking and baking. This book offers menus so that you're organized and know exactly when to cook each piece and you're not scrambling to get everything together on the actual day.
The menus are easy to follow and while it may seem intimidating to make everything from scratch, it ALL worked out for me - it all looked good and tasted delicious. And that means it would work out for you.

The other reviews are correct in that this is a beautiful book. However, I didn't find it that helpful in creating menus, table decorating or general entertaining. The Day after Thanksgiving lunch and weekend breakfast ideas are great, and something that my family has never done, so that's an idea. It referred to the "color palettes in this book" a couple of times, but there weren't any. The recipes are sparse, and I have most of them elsewhere. (I am trying the cranberry relish this year though.)

This is a great book for someone who has never done the daunting task of preparing a major family meal for Thanksgiving. It would be a brilliant gift for a new family trying to create their own traditions. But for someone with some traditions in place that likes to change it up a little here and there, I wouldn't recommend it.

This is a very beautiful book. It reminds me how much fun the holidays can be. I originally bought this book because I am trying to figure out what I want my thanksgiving to be like so that we have a traditional meal established by the time my husband and I have kids. I remember how much better holidays were as we got older and started knowing what to expect at Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter etc. I am from Virginia and was surprised to see that they had it laid out by different regions and traditions in those areas. I may mix and match a bit but the southern Thanksgiving felt just right. Can't wait to try some of the recipes.

My step-daughter recommended this book....she is a great cook....and she knows good cook books....so looking forward to serving most of the "Southern Thanksgiving" dishes.
