These William Sonoma "Mastering" cookbooks are fantastic. I have even given them as Christmas gifts. Easy to learn recipes. I am a newbie to cooking and these recipes are difficult to screw up. I recommend these cookbooks to anyone.

I'm not someone who has ever done much cooking. My idea of nutrition was throwing some meat (sometimes marinaded) on the grill or boiling up some pasta and putting some pre-made sauce on top. I've been trying, though, to expand the repetoir and in particular eat more fruits and veggies especially. My first pass was to just grill up some veggies alongside the meat on the grill, but that's still pretty limited.
I found that this book has really made it easy for me to try new stuff that I otherwise probably would never have even considered because I wouldn't have had any idea of even what to do with it.
With this book, I've been emboldened to just go to the local saturday farmer's market, and I just buy stuff that looks good or interesting, and when I get it home, I just look it up in the book and get an idea of what to do with it. I'm really still just getting going, but my experience so far has been really encouraging.
So, if you are already doing a lot of cooking on your own, this may be too basic for you, but, if you are like me, then I would highly recommend it.
