5.0 out of 5 stars Very well done, as usual, August 9, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Willing Sacrifice (Paperback)
Willing Sacrifice is about a girl raised in isolation for the sole purpose of sacrificing her life to save her people.

Really, it's the little things, the attention to detail, that make this such a wonderful book. All the little things we take for granted, La'tiera has been denied, and so when she discovers them she is completely fascinated by the every day.

The progression from what she's been taught to what is true is a believable one; La'tiera is intelligent, yet she's also loyal and not easily swayed from what she believes is the right thing to do. The way she thinks and progresses, the events that shape her decisions, are all completely believable within the context of the story, which is very important for a story of this nature.

And La'tiera's reactions at the end are also spot-on for a real person in her situation.

Gloria Oliver has done it again, and with as much talent and style as ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, April 30, 2008
This review is from: Willing Sacrifice (Paperback)
La'tiera lives in a unique world, where she knows that one day she must sacrifice herself for mankind to survive. She lives locked away in a castle, where she's protected from strangers.

However, one little girl from a traveling troupe of entertainers discovers a way inside the fortress. She meets La'tiera and tells her troupe all about her. Could she be the one they have been searching for? Without hesitation, other members of the group believe that she's the girl who will save the world.

The group kidnaps La'tiera for her own safety. They speak of anther solution besides sacrifice, where La'tiera must live in order to save mankind, rather than die. As much as La'tiera grows to love her friend and admire the people around her, she knows what she must do.

Who is telling her the truth -- and can she figure out her destiny before it's too late?

WILLING SACRIFICE is a unique tale that fantasy readers will certainly enjoy.
