5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference
This huge book very carefully covers the Bible in a modified outline form (for lack of a better description). Although I have not read it as a book, I have been using it as a reference (it is designed to be used along with a Bible). Considering the vast quantity of information on a wide variety of Bible subjects, I believe it is a good investment for anyone who is...

3.0 out of 5 stars FOR NEWBIES ONLY
This book came to me highly recommended by a friend. I am greatly disappointed thus far in my use of the book. I would say that this book is best suited for those who are looking for a generalized overview of scripture. This is not for scholars or those looking for detailed exegesis and critical examination of the Bible. The commentary on 'woman' in the Garden of...

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended Bible Reference!, May 10, 2004
"Guide to the Bible" is an excellent resource for the pastor or teacher preparing a sermon or Bible study lesson!

The book contains excellent outlines of each book in the Bible by describing unique features, time written, and main events. As if these were not enough, Willmington also includes doctrinal summaries of several Christian themes, including: the Trinity, man, sin, salvation, angels, the Bible, prophecy, and the church.

A highly recommended title, the "Guide to the Bible" will prove invaluable for anyone who wishes to know more about the Bible.

Read and enjoy!

Joel Dyess (Pasadena, TX United States) - See all my reviews
One of the best outlines of Old and New Testaments as well as one the most readable and well-explained outlines of the basic Bible doctrines. An excellent tool for both the new Christian and teachers. If you want an excellent source for understanding what you believe and why you believe it, This is it!

This book is a must-have for evangelical teachers, preachers, and any serious student of God's holy word. Bro. Wilmington presents the scriptures clearly and concisely in chronological order, making the history of God's people from the garden to the church come alive!

This is a textbook to be sure, with careful exegesis of scripture and exposition of Christian doctrine, but is as readable as your favorite novel. The outlines are extremely clear, with themes, key verses and personalities given for each book.

Bro. Wilmington presents one of the most complete, concise, and easily understood outlines of end-time prophecy and the book of Revelation I have ever seen.

Whether you are preparing Sunday School lessons, preaching to the saints, or studying God's magnificent word for your own personal edification, this book should be a part of your library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Willmingtons Guide to the Bible, March 22, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have found it extremely helpful espically in the Faith Bible Institute Class that I have been taking. I have found very few differences in opinion between Dr. Willmington and myself. It does do a wonderful job in explaining the scriptures. Dr. Willmington's views are helpful, but remember that when it comes to scripture to derive your own conclusions.
