No contemporary romance author combines steamy hot and heartwarming better than Toni Blake. Editorial Reviews

“The sweet fifth installment of Blake’s Destiny contemporary series offers the captivating story of bookstore owner Amy’s impossible not to empathize with and cheer for Amy in this charming tale.” (Publishers Weekly (starred review))

From the Back Cover

Amy Bright might be the best matchmaker in Destiny, Ohio, but she's desperately shy when it comes to her own love life—and helpless when it comes to Logan Whitaker, with whom she's head-over-heels in love. So Amy decides to become Logan's secret admirer, sending him sensual love letters steamy enough to unseal their own envelopes.

After a tragedy on the job, firefighter Logan is battling demons. Thank goodness Amy is there for him. But when a woman from Logan's past resurfaces right as some anonymous letters send Logan's pulse hammering, suddenly he doesn't know what he needs. One smoking-hot kiss could change everything . . . but will it ruin a one-of-a-kind friendship, or show Logan and Amy that they've already found everything they need, right here in Destiny?

Amy Bright is Destiny, Ohio's bookstore owner, cat care giver and the local matchmaker. She is helping her two best girlfriends prepare for their upcoming weddings, while trying to get her new cat Austen acquainted with her old cat Mr. Knightley. In the midst of all this her best guy friend, Logan, is going through a tough time and she is trying to get him to get his life back in order. But in an unexpected moment Logan kisses her and changes how she sees him and herself. If that wasn't enough to keep these characters busy, a ghost from the past pops up and changes everything.

I love this series and I was really excited to read Amy's happily ever after. This book was next to impossible to set down and at about 2 am last night/this morning I had a 15 minute debate with myself about whether or not I should stay up all night and finish reading. Finally, the fact that I had family portraits today won out, after deciding red, puffy and tired eyes wouldn't look good, I had to set it aside. But even after I went to bed, I couldn't get Amy and Logan out of my head.

Logan is a bit of an ass and I at times I wanted to jump through the pages and punch him in the nose, or the crotch. He could be so sweet and caring one minute, then a clueless, spineless, jackass the next. It was frustrating. The character of Anna was also a source of anxiety for me. I really tried to sympathize, to empathize with her, but I really couldn't. She was selfish and self-centered and I wanted her to go back from whence she came! I could have done without her interference in this story, and only at the very end did I ever get even the mildest of lukewarm feelings for her. I am guessing she will be starring in her own Destiny novel one day soon, I am sure Ms. Blake will make me like her then.

2.0 out of 5 stars It didn't ring true for me September 20, 2012
By Agi
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Amy is the cat-loving owner of the Destiny bookstore Under the Covers. In the previous novels she has been portrayed as a sweet matchmaker and good friend. In this novel we find out that she is a virgin and hadn't been on a date since she broke up with a high school boyfriend.

Logan is a Destiny firefighter and Amy's childhood friend. He had recently experienced a traumatic fire where he lost friends and he is recovering from the fallout. When the story starts Amy snaps him out of his funk and he kisses her but immediately blames it on the alcohol.

So...I really didn't like this story and I'm a Toni Blake fan. There were so many elements that didn't work for for me.

1. Amy and Logan have been very close friends since childhood and their newfound attraction doesn't seem likely to me because they've known each other for SO many years and never saw each other that way at all. They were next door neighbors and played together as kids, with no break in their friendship over all that time. I can't imagine that having known each other so young they wouldn't have fallen prey to the Westermarck effect. I'm not a fan of the fact that all of a sudden Amy developed all of these deep sexual and emotional feelings for Logan after one drunken semi-kiss.

2. Amy's situation sems very contrived to me. She is described as being pretty and fit. She seems to have a very modest sense of style but I can't really imagine that no one has asked her out on a date in a decade plus just because she doesn't wear sexy clothes. She is a lonely romantic but she isn't really shy. She has quite a few friends, her own business, and ties to her community so I can't imagine that she hadn't been getting some offers intermittently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Willow Springs: Love this book August 5, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I just recently discovered Toni Blake and finished all the Desiny Novels in 5 days. The stories and characters are amazing. They are real people with real issues. I love how Toni continues each characters story with the next book. they will make you laugh, cry and want to move to Destiny and be a part of this town.

3.0 out of 5 stars Half and Half September 11, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Amy Bright is the best match-maker in Destiny, Ohio, but has no love life of her own. Until one night she's kissed, and she falls head over heels in love with her best friend, Logan Whitaker. But Logan has his own demons he's trying to work out, and are these two ready to take that leap from friends to... more?

The first half of this book was hauntingly sweet and addicting. The second half just seemed to be filled with miscommunication and weak conflict. Very strange dialog too. In saying that, friends to lovers plots are hard to pull off, and this felt realistically done. This is my first book by Blake, and I probably won't hesitate to buy more. She has a real knack for underlying emotions and setting her scene. The secondary characters pulled this through.

2.0 out of 5 stars Simply Frustrating.... August 22, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I'm a genuine fan of Toni Blake. One Reckless Summer is my absolute favorite beach read and she's on my automatic purchase list, however I can't sign on for this latest Destiny installment. I'm not a huge fan of love triangles involving two women and one man, in particular when the man can't seem to make a choice for 90% of the novel. So frustrating. I kept putting the book down and saying to myself, "Why read a romance, this is worse than real life dating!" There is a very unsympathetic character that is completely rude and out of line most of the time, however the heroine Amy is made to feel like she should apologize to this person over and over again. It's obvious that the author plans to make this character the lead in an upcoming Destiny novel. This can be the only explanation for writing such odd interactions between the two of them. Amy is the heroine, but you never really feel like she's the object of the hero's affection until the very end. That's just waaaaay too abrupt a transition. I found this book repetitive and completely lacking in passion. Should friends become lovers? Maybe, but it doesn't make for a very exciting or compelling read in this case.
