Product Description

Wilson Desktop (DT) 4G Cell Phone Signal Booster

Improve the clarity of cell phone calls and reduce the number of dropped calls in your home or office with the Wilson Desktop (DT) 4G Cell Phone Signal Booster. The product includes everything you need to capture a weak cellular signal, transmit it into your home or office, increase the cellular signal strength, and improve the performance of your cell phone, regardless of which carrier you use. The result is improved cell phone reception, fewer dropped calls, and increased data transmission rates.

How it Works

Many homes and buildings include materials that reduce or block cellular signals. Sometimes, the physical location prevents a strong signal from reaching your home or office because of the location of cell towers, other structures, or environmental barriers such as hills or trees. The Wilson DT 4G captures a weak cellular signal, transmits it into your home or office, and boosts the signal strength to and from your cell phone, resulting in better call quality, fewer dropped calls, and increased data transmission rates.

The DT 4G uses three primary components – an outside antenna, the signal booster, and an inside antenna. The outside antenna – which can be mounted either outside of your building or attached to the inside of a window – captures the weak cellular signal from the nearest tower. It then transmits the signal to the Signal Booster, which increases the signal strength before transmitting it to the inside antenna. Your cell phone then picks up the improved signal from the inside antenna and transmits back to the inside antenna, through the Signal Booster and to the outside antenna, sending a stronger cellular signal back to the cell tower.

Who it Helps

The Wilson DT 4G is especially helpful for people who rely on their cell phones for their business needs, whether that’s a home business or out of an office. These individuals find that a stronger cellular signal is vital to staying in contact with customers, vendors, remote employees, and others. The DT Signal Booster increases cellular signal strength on 3G and 4G networks across all major cellular carriers.

What’s Included

The Wilson DT 4G comes with everything you need to start benefiting from improved cellular reception, including:

  • An outside antenna that mounts on the roof, an outside wall, or in the inside of your window. This antenna captures the signal from a nearby cellular tower.
  • Mounting hardware to install your antenna in the way that works best for you.
  • 60 feet of coax cable (two 30-foot coils) to run from the outside antenna to the Signal Booster, conveying the signal from the cell tower.
  • The DT Signal Booster, which is placed in the room where you want to experience improved cellular reception.
  • An inside antenna, which connects to the Signal Booster to transmit the stronger cellular signal to your cell phone.
  • AC power supply
  • Simple installation instructions and contact information for additional support.
  • Multiple installation options to meet your needs
  • Wireless connection to your phone – improved cellular signal strength without physical connection to the signal booster
  • Complete package – everything you need to get better cellular reception is included
  • Quint band device – works with both 3G and 4G frequencies from all major cellular carriers in the U.S. and Canada
  • Customer support to answer any questions about installation or functionality

  • Greater efficiency, decreased frustration
  • Can be used by multiple cellular devices simultaneously

I bought this so I could use my phone as internet. I live rural where satellite is the only option. For those who aren't aware (I wasn't) satellite internet options are terribly slow, expensive, and have low data caps. I am lucky to get a whisper of a 4g signal (-108 dBm from my attic window) which this satellite has boosted to -82 dBm. In the room where I currently have the indoor antenna, I would sometimes get 4g at -116 dBm, but was mostly stuck using a weak 3g signal. These results are with indoor mounting of the outdoor antenna, suction cupping it to the attic window. I plan to do the outdoor pole mounting later.

The signal propagates from the indoor antenna to a distance of about 5 feet, noticeably weakening with every little increase in distance. This is not a problem for me, as like I said I purchased it for internet. I simply set my phone directly next to the indoor antenna and tether it, then I use it as wireless internet for my three computers. Much better download/upload than satellite (HughesNet, the provider I'd have here, apparently averages 6.82down/0.82up) not to mention the ping which with satellite is so high it makes online games and skype virtually unusable, around 700ms. My 4g is almost always sub 100ms, making it perfectly usable. I'm on Verizon and the monthly data rates are similar to that of satellite, a bit higher if you consider that many satellite providers offer additional gigs during off-peak times like 2am-5am. Satellite requires a 2 year contract, and I may be somewhere else in a year and would hate to be stuck with satellite in a place where true broadband was offered.

Overall, I'm super happy with my purchase.

So I moved into rural amelia court house VA and learned ATT may get one bar inside the house and Verizon who is king out here ( best internet connection cause no DSL or high speed other than satellite) only hot two bars. With this Wilson DT4G we are getting 4g LTE inside the house and consistent 3+ bars???mad props to Wilson highly recommend!! Easy DYI instal would recommend inline ground connector should come with kit but Wilson sells reasonable price... Consider omni external antenna if you need multiple towers for mult. Carriers, in my case both Att and verizon are on same tower....

I have a 6000 SqFt metal building that I could not get any signal at all in. Especially the one part that has a suspended grid ceiling. I was a little worried that this would not help in that large of a building but to my surprise it worked out great. Outside signal I am lucky to get 1 or 2 bars. Now I get 3 to 4 bars inside where I had no signal at all. I put my inside antenna in the smaller grid ceiling room where I needed the signal the most. And in the open bay area I still get a decent signal about 75 foot away. The outside antenna I put on the peak of the roof using the supplied clamp and a piece of pvc pipe mounted with 2 pipe clamps. I actually had to turn down the gain for the outside antenna because my signal was too strong. But easily adjusted with the well written instructions.

Just received this today. I live in an area with 0-2 bars (Sprint) throughout my house, no 3G service 95% of the time. I temporarily placed the antenna on the attic window today, routed it to my second floor office and turned it on. Very simple setup! I tested before my dBm's before turning it on, it was around -100-103 most places in the house. I'm now getting anywhere from -82 to -96 depending on the location in my house (2-5 bars) I'm also getting 3g throughout. Im excited for the weather to get a little nicer so I can mount this on the roof. The only thing I would change is perhaps a little stronger inside antenna to relay the signal. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Before investing in the 460101 DT 4G, check with your cellular provider. T-Mobile, for example, provides their own signal booster without extra costs. You just need to return it to them if you cancel your service. (I believe you can only obtain it by calling them and requesting it.)

I, on the other hand, didn't know about that option when I purchased the zBoost ZB545, which I have been running for more than a year. But I always seem to have a few second delay when speaking with someone over the phone, so I decided to check out this Wilson Electronics 460101 DT 4G.

The zBoost ZB545 was really simple to setup, whereas this 460101 DT 4G unit has more going on. Including getting the right angling on the external antenna, facing the internal antenna away from the external one, and making sure there is a minimum of 20 feet between them both. The nice thing with the Wilson Electronics 460101 DT 4G is that if there's an issue, the lights on the unit should tell you. Whereas with the zBoost you are guessing at everything.

The base unit shows four knobs. These are not to customize frequencies for different phones or cellular providers. They are there to increase or decrease the gain. Meaning, to turn the strength of the signal up and down. If your outdoor antenna is too close to the base unit, the device may display red lights and possibly shut down. You can reduce the gain so that any oscillation or feedback are prevented, but of course doing so means your signal becomes weaker.

That said, even with all these extra features, I did not get a better signal than I did with the zBoost. In fact, I seem to get a slightly weaker one. The zBoost usually gives me bars around three and four whereas the 460101 gives me around two to three.
