It's All About Power

The primary cause of dropped calls is low signal output power from the cell phone to the cell tower, which limits the phone's ability to communicate with the tower. A typical cell phone provides merely 200 milliwatts of output power. To address this problem, the booster provides up to an impressive 2500 milliwatts of output power. In addition to the power increase from the booster, the included external omni-directional antenna will also significantly increase the phone's output power.

Enjoy Premium Reception and Fewer Dropped Calls

Using state-of-the-art technology, the Wilson DB Pro Kit strengthens your cell phone reception to give you premium coverage inside the building even when you're in remote areas with a weak signal.

Once installed, the booster kit will amplify the signals of multiple cell phones and data cards inside the building, allowing cell phone users to enjoy excellent reception and data connection simultaneously. You'll experience fewer dropped calls, clearer call quality, and improved data rates--even with 3G technologies.

Do-It-Yourself Installation without Sacrificing Performance

The booster kit comes with everything you need for a do-it-yourself installation. Included in this kit is the external Omni directional gain antenna with multiple mounting options which eliminates researching cell tower locations and antenna pointing. Also included is the inside panel antenna which rebroadcasts the amplified signal. All components are interconnected using provided standard TV cable (RG-6) that is easily available and often found pre-installed, simplifying cable runs.

Compatible with Most Cell Phone Models and Providers

The Wilson DB Pro Kit is compatible with all US and Canadian cellular providers, excluding iDEN / Nextel / MIKE. This kit supports CDMA, TDMA, GSM and AMPS cell phone technologies, as well as data protocols such as GPRS, 1xRTT, HSDPA, EVDO and EDGE.

The Wilson Booster Kit includes a 30-day money-back guarantee and is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

From no signal to 5 bars signal strength in some locations inside. This Wilson booster system did the job.
Obviously you have to have some cell phone signal outside for it to work. In this case there was no signal or unreliable signal outside in the yard. However on top of chimney there were 5 bars.

LESSON LEARNED AND TOPICS TO UNDERSTAND
There are some decisions to make before selecting this kit with the 13" OMNIDIRECTIONAL antenna versus the shorter YAGI antenna which comes in this kit Wilson Electronics 841263 = Wilson Electronics 841262 DB Pro 65 dB Adjustable Gain 800/1900MHz In-building Wireless Smart Technology IITM Signal Booster Kit with Directional Wide Band Yagi and Panel Antenna for Home or Office..

For me the omnidirectional antenna worked well (or let's say I got away with it).
But before you purchase a system you want to consider...

SIGNAL AVAILABILITY
If you only have one or two bars at the location WHERE YOU INTEND TO INSTALL THE EXTERIOR ANTENNA buy the Yagi type. It is directional and will be able to pick up weaker signals and connect to a tower farther away.
If you have two to three bars you can PROBABLY use the 13" omnidirectional antenna.
You will get the best signal from the Yagi type antenna. So the Yagi should be your first choice unless the cell phones in your house connect to different towers in different directions.

I have been researching and delaying this purchase for a couple years now, not knowing if it would help our cell reception in our house. And the price of it. A lot of money for something that may not help! Anyway, we have terrible reception, one to MAYBE two bars of 1X service in our home or no bars at all. -105dBm or worse in the test mode. (If you want to learn more about dBm and cell phone test mode, go to [...]. Did much of my research on their site) Even on the roof of the house the reception was poor, so I didn't know if this booster would do any good. You couldn't carry a phone conversation in the house without the call dropping or you sprinting out of the house hoping the call wouldn't fail. Usually failed anyway. We have no land line and use Verizon's internet service with a MIFI modem device. So, poor cell reception, poor internet service! Our land line carrier doesn't offer DSL in our area and who knows when they might. Our Verizon MIFI device has been up for renewal for several months, but I didn't want to lock this in for two more years if DSL was coming to the area soon.

Long story short I said screw it and ordered the Wilson Electronics 841263 kit. I know the company name and actually own a couple of their other vehicle antennas. I attached the outside directional antenna to the side of the house with a nine foot piece of 1 and half inch pipe, so it was above the roof line 5 to 6 foot. Ran the wire (which is nothing more than tv antenna coax cable RG6) to the basement, mounted the booster in the basement and ran the wire from the booster to the room above and set the internal antenna on a shelf roughly 6 foot off the floor.

What a surprise, turned it on, powered up all the cell phones and modem, had 5 bars in most of the house!

Size Name: Multi-Room - 3G Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
No matter whose providing our cell phone service, dead zones still seem to be an issue. The overpriced and underachieving booster that my service provider billed us for was absolutely worthless. In short, after four days use I boxed it up and sent it back for an account credit. When the opportunity came along to take the Wilson Electronics 801247 Cell Phone Signal Booster for a test drive I had some serious doubts.

Opening the box, the first thing I noticed was the hard plastic body casing for both the exterior antenna and the amplifier. Speaking from personal experience I know that the exterior antenna unit will have a short lifespan against the elements unless it is weather proofed. Corrosion will definitely have an effect on the connectors. Vulcanizing tape, electrical tape and Scotch coat is a must if this product is installed outdoors. My other gripe is the design of the cradle. Its a given that the cradle will accumulate standing water which could result in damage to the unit.

That said, I did a quick inventory of hardware that included the DT amplifier, amplifier antenna, exterior antenna, mounting hardware, barrel connector, ac power supply, and both 20' and 30' coaxial cables. Kudos to the folks at Wilson for providing a detailed and readable instruction manual. Tools that will come in handy if mounting outdoors including the protection that I mentioned earlier are a drill, 3/16" bit, phillips head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. After determining the location of the strongest signal, I opted to mount the exterior antenna inside on a facing window.

Just a reminder to mount the front of the antenna so that it faces outside (which is the logo side) and not in the direction of the amplifier.

Thank you for the great review `JDP'.

We appreciate your feedback on the outside cradle antenna. As you have probably seen since your original review, the antenna is designed to last and can withstand the elements. These antennas are used everywhere from Florida to Alaska and even in remote areas of Canada. There is a rubber seal around the antenna and at the base of the connector to protect it from the weather, and a drip hole at the bottom to avoid moisture accumulation. We recommend the connector be sealed or coated after the coax has been attached for best results, as mentioned by `Chi Guy' in a prior comment. We are so confident about the durability of these antennas that we back them with the same 2 year warranty as the boosters.
