The Wilson F1205 TDS is designed with a host of features to provide you with the best all-purpose football for high school competitive play. The new, improved 899 WE leather with tanned-in tack and deep pebble design combined with the 1005 small pattern and deep channels provide great gripability. Add in the Accurate Control Lacing System (ACL) and the Composite Stripes for the ultimate in gripability and visibility. I purchased this football at a sporting goods store. The quality of the leather is decent, though not a great deal better than the some of the nicer composites. Perhaps when I break it in more, the leather will become tackier, but that's not going to happen because the ball is too poorly made to play with. The seams at the nose are slightly misaligned, causing some asymmetry and a wobbly flight pattern. The side panels also bulge a bit right at the seams, no matter how inflated/deflated the ball is. I've tried to work the stiffness out of the leather here, but the bulge persists. To look at, these are very minor defects, but they combine to form a ball that is very difficult to throw a tight spiral with. I really can't use this ball. Too bad.

I'm not a football player, not the parent of a football player and not a guy trying to relive his youth. I just like having a football that I can toss around on camping trips or backyard gatherings. This is a leather, regulation high school football, and most important to me IT'S MADE IN THE USA!! I agree with the review that it is not perfectly symetrical but I don't have a problem spirling the ball and I view the slight seam variances as the character of the ball. I wanted a good quality, leather football made in America, and this is it.
