5.0 out of 5 stars The Beach, December 23, 2001

This review is from: Wilson Leather AVP Beach Volleyball (Sports)
As most leather balls, the water weighs it down, I don't recommend that. As far as durability, we used it about 40 hours a week, sand only for close to 7 months, by then, It was getting rough to play with, based on the hours logged on it, and the fact it was 2 on 2 beach, the wear and tear was expected. It's a good ball still, and like someone else said, put your name on the ball, once the game is over, your ball is gone too. You won't find a better volleyball than this, I had to wait 4 months to get one when I first ordered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best!, July 25, 2007
By
Note: Only buy this ball if you are a snob like myself. That being said, this ball is still my favorite even though AVP has switched to the newer yellow one. This ball is a little bit heavier than the current official one, which I actually prefer. The official ball tends to feel like a balloon, I think, whereas this one has the ideal size, shape, and feel. It breaks in only a couple of hours; this is the ulltimate ball for beach competition. Try not to get it too wet, or it can tend to absorb. It wears better than the Spalding Top Flite 18 Gold, and has more of an outdoor feel than the Tachikura or the Mikasa Beach Champ. I think it's worth the price, definitely.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is the ball AVP needs to bring back, September 19, 2008

this ball comes ready out the box to start smacking. Well worth the duckets as with the raised seams and slightly heavier this ball passes and sets better from the current

This is the best beach volleyball ever made in my opinion and is worth every penny. Of course, I'm old school. Nothing beats the leather edging panels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the leather touch and heavier feel, July 6, 2010
This review is from: Wilson Leather AVP Beach Volleyball (Sports)
I also have the Wilson AVP Official International Game Ball Volleyball which is quite popular now. I prefer the Wilson Leather ball the best. Perhaps because I grew up as an indoor player, and it has more of a Tachikara leather feel...maybe I'm just old school :) I used this ball for several years for occasional sand/grass games. My ball was always the preferrerd game ball. It broke in quickly and nicely. Yes, like others said, try not to get it wet. The new AVP ball is pretty light compared to this one. I also concur with the other posters - put your name and phone number on it and keep an eye on it - it will disappear after the game or even warm ups.

This is the one of the top 3 volleyballs you'll find on the beach (the Spalding Top Flight and the Mikasa Beach Champ are the other two). At [the] price you're not going to get the best deal, but it will be a good ball. Tip: as with all leather goods, don't get it wet or it will get heavy. Don't use it on concrete or you'll reduce its life span. Do put your name on it or it will disappear right after game point.
