Wilson "Major League" Hard Shell Umpire Chest Protector

My son is an umpire at the local little league baseball park. He's eighteen now but started working there last year. This year, after doing additional training, he's working the kid pitch games. Unfortunately, this means that he's getting hit by pitchers, foul balls, and sometimes bats and catcher's helmets.

One of his friends let him borrow the Wilson Hard Shell Umpire Chest Protector that he had. After hearing how well it performed, I bought my son one (I'm a great dad! :) and he knows he's lucky to have me).

I was amazed when the chest protector arrived. It looks heavy, but it's wonderfully light. More than that, I tested it and found it can take some serious impact without giving way. It also looks funny, I have to admit. I was reminded of Go-Bots and RoboDuck from Duck Tales, and my son had watched both those cartoon series while growing up, so he's taken some serious ribbing (admittedly, I'm not always great).

If you're an umpire, or if you know and love one, this is seriously going to be some of the best money you can spend on that person.
