A Thousand Falling Skies has progressed much since the first demo they released. While I do enjoy modern day versions of cover songs, there is nothing better than "The Wilting". The album starts out with a metallic onslaught of crushing brutality and drum work that would make Tommy Lee jealous. Pedro's vocals hit hard upon first listen and all together it gives you a crisp, clean feeling. "Giving In" was a perfect way to start the album because it has elements in it from all the songs on the album. As it progresses, you are hit with destructive breakdowns, skillful guitar work, and a collaborate mix of vocals. The lyrical content doesn't surprise me either. Don't expect the "feel sorry for me, I'm so depressed" lyrics that Staind made so popular in the late 90's. The lyrics represent less of the gloomy outlook, and more of a positive, get up when you fall movement. This album covers a lot of ground, and it seems to be influenced by many different creative ideas. All in all, no matter what you are looking for, this album has it, and it has it in its best form.

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome, September 3, 2004

Heavy, reminds me of unearths new one "the oncoming storm". Massive breakdowns, heavy guitars and really good vocals with really good lyrics too, which doesn't happen too often. The vocals remind me of the atreyu vocalist, except this guy has talent and he manages not to sound like he is choking on a bananna.

4.0 out of 5 stars COOL NEW BAND, August 19, 2004
This review is from: Wilting (Audio CD)
The folks at stillborn records(jamey-hatebreed) have just released the killer new album from the CT based band-Thousand falling skies "the wilting" is a hard hitting fast paced slab of metal-core (btw I hate labels, I think if you enjoy a band, then enjoy them and stop worrying "Which genre they fall into?"
If you enjoy unearth& as I ldying, bleeding through, then this cd is worth looking into. One of my personal favorites so far (2004) 4.5/5
