1.0 out of 5 stars Pieces fall out. Regret this purchase.
I would've been better off buying the decorating comb or triangle for MUCH MUCH less (one or two dollars). The pieces of this product fall out and don't fit well in the holder. I was so disappointed. I had wanted this product for a long time. Now I wish I hadn't wasted my money.

I recently started taking the Wilton cake-decorating classes at my local craft stores. My instructor said she had never used this product. I ordered it and tried it. It is the niftiest little gadget. Be sure to read the instructions. The icing needs to be at least ½ inch think where you use this and it takes a little practice to master using it, but the results are worth it. I have used it both on the sides of my cakes and on top as background texture. I got more complements using this then when I just iced and decorated the cakes. If you are into or getting into cake decorating, defiantly get this. You will not regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars The icing on the cake!, November 15, 2008
This review is from: Wilton 2104-12 Icing Sculptor Set with Handle and 64 Design Blades (Kitchen)
I love this product. It makes it very easy to decorate the sides of my cakes so they look fabulous. I am not the most creative person- and my cakes often show it- not anymore! My only complaint, although minor, is that you have to add a fairly thick layer of thinner consistency icing for the tool to work easily. Otherwise it pulls the edges right out of the holder. Once I discovered this trick I was very pleased!

I was very disappointed with this product. when it said it included an instruction book I though it would show you what pieces to but together to create the different designs but it don't it's a guessing game. Also the pieces fall out of the handle when using it or slide back into the handle. If I could return it I would. Not worth the money I spent on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars So bad made me sad!!, May 9, 2010

I purchased these thinking they would make lovely sides on my cakes. I have been making cakes for about 5 years and can't stand these things. They don't work correctly or if you are getting it to work they want to slip in the holder causing a mess in the icing. It is not worth the $$

The pieces keep falling out. I have tried many things to keep the pieces in place long enough to do a quick pattern on my cake but nothing worked. This is a waste of time and money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Create beautiful cakes, December 15, 2009

I use this a few times to create different pattern and absolutely love the end results. It makes my cake looks professional and beautiful with the finishing touch. I don't like icing on my cake. I use plenty of fresh cream, cream cheese frosting or buttercream and they all work great and taste great on the cake. With these tools, the pattern is limitless and so far I haven't use the same pattern twice. I even mix and match different color pieces and it still looks great, it doesn't really need to be in the same pattern all the way. It is really fun using this and make sure the piece is snap in place and you are good to go. I found it easier to put this set in a clear plastic box so you will not lose the pieces. Cake decorating is getting more fun now.

This a great way to make an ordinary cake extraordinary! It does take some getting use to, and you do have to use a little extra icing, but the end result is well worth it. Also clean up is easy- I just disassembled, and placed it in the dishwasher.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another useless Wilton product, August 27, 2010
This review is from: Wilton 2104-12 Icing Sculptor Set with Handle and 64 Design Blades (Kitchen)
Like others have commented, my pieces kept falling out. When I went to use it for the first time on a soft buttercream frosting, the design was so bad after a couple of attempts, I gave up and frosted the side of the cake with a spatula.

I also had the problem in that some of the blades were extremely difficult to get into the cheaply made holder.

Save your money and buy a cake comb instead. I'm angry Wilton would put out such a junky piece of equipment, and have learned my lesson after three such experiences - read the reviews before purchasing any Wilton products!

1.0 out of 5 stars I never use this, now it sits in my cabinet taking up space, December 26, 2011
This review is from: Wilton 2104-12 Icing Sculptor Set with Handle and 64 Design Blades (Kitchen)
When I got this I was so excited, I made a cake just to try it out! I chose a design with all the "teeth" and placed them in the holder and started going around my cake. (I even have the turning cake stand, so it should have been easy.) First try - my icing wasn't thick enough. The instructions state it needs something like a 1/2" of frosting on all sides. I never use that much frosting, the cakes I get from the bakery never have that much icing. So I slathered it with more icing and tried again. Now with the recommended icing amount if your hand isn't steady you are going to get different thicknesses of icing as you go around the cake. Now I've got bumpy holes in the thick icing. As I stop to realign 2 or 3 of the teeth get stuck in my cake. I couldn't do the top at all because the teeth just keep falling out. I covered the top with strawberries and took the cake to work because they won't care that it was ugly. Now, I'm all about practice makes perfect, and I certainly would have thought about trying again if the teeth falling out wasn't so incredibly frustrating. Now I have a very colorful baggie full of paperweight. For me - this product was a complete waste of time.
