4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but why is the glue so impossible to get off?
This pan is great, and I made a really nice cake for my husband with it -- used milk duds on toothpicks as the "keys" and combined dark and light chocolate frosting on the body, along with white frosting for the strings. It came out really cute. The only aggravating thing was that there was some glue that was used to hold down a piece of paper inside the bottom of the pan...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice detail - not very large.
I ordered this cake pan for my daughter's birthday. It's cute and has nice detail - but - it's not as large as it seems. It only holds 1 regular box of cake mix. (Maybe that's obvious to experienced bakers but I thought it would bake a much larger cake.) We'll be supplementing with cupcakes.

This pan is great, and I made a really nice cake for my husband with it -- used milk duds on toothpicks as the "keys" and combined dark and light chocolate frosting on the body, along with white frosting for the strings. It came out really cute. The only aggravating thing was that there was some glue that was used to hold down a piece of paper inside the bottom of the pan (that showed the guitar fully decorated, and had the barcode/etc). The glue was IMPOSSIBLE to get off. I even tried prying it off with a knife, heating it, etc. It's like cemented onto the pan. Luckily, (and I recommend this for anyone using this pan anyhow), I used parchment paper on the bottom of the pan, so the cake didn't actually end up touching the glue. I don't know if the glue was just really old, or if they used the wrong type of glue, but it was a nuisance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Pan, August 1, 2006

This is a great pan... It came with a few pictures of different guitar styles to decorate the cake in and the details were really picked up by the cake. It is not nonstick though so be sure to use grease and flower. Other than that though... great pan. I've make an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar. Everybody loved them.

I bought this cake pan for my daughter's birthday. It worked out perfect. Make sure you read the instructions included with the pan so that the cake comes out right. My daughter loved the design.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like it, February 3, 2011
This review is from: Wilton Guitar Cake Pan (Kitchen)

I used mine for the first time this weekend. The cake turned out great! It fits onto a cookie sheet without any problem; pan holds one standard cake mix.

NOTE: It took the body (wide end) of the guitar about 6 minutes longer to completely cook than the neck.

To keep the cake from sticking to the pan, I used the Pam cooking spray that already has flour in it. It's much easier and less messy than using shortening and then flouring the pan in a separate step. I noticed that while it was baking, the Pam bubbled up around the sides of the cake, but then again I did spray it on in a fairly heavy layer. The bubbles were brownish in color, but when the cake was done, they disappeared, so no harm was done. It turned out onto the cooling rack without any problems at all. The design details were very clear.

I suggest setting the cake pan on a cookie sheet while baking to make it easier to handle.

The only issue I had with the pan was the glue attaching the label. I had to scrub a LOT to get it out before I could use the pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pan!, August 5, 2010

I used this pan for my son's birthday party. The easiest way to assure that the cake doesn't stick to the pan is to brush it with crisco and then coat with flour.

Luckily, since I don't bake guitar cakes *all the time*, this pan doubles as a cute container I lay on the counter to hold my keys, cell phone and other things I need to grab on the way out the door.
