I am sorry to hear that the previous reviewer had such a bad experience with her caddy- because I absolutely love mine!

I have severe arthritis and the locks on the side are easy enough for even me to use! If I take the recomended step of dabbing a dot of frosting down before I place my goodies on the tray they don't slide around at all anymore!

The unit seals tightly keeping my goodies fresher longer (I use my glass cake dome and cakes go stale in one day).

As for clean up- I throw it in the dishwasher and it cleans like a dream. I will admit though that being a cake decorator I always decorate my cakes on a cardboard round (I actually use reusable disks that my hubby cut for me that I cover with wrapping paper to look good)- the reason I am rambling about this is that I don't cut cakes directly on the base (or any other cake plate for that matter) so it never really gets that dirty anyway.

Bottom line: I use the heck out of my cake caddy!

I was disappointed that it holds a cake 10" x 4", which is not in the product description. Once I received it, I saw the cake dimensions on the manufacturer's label. I thought it could be used for higher layer cakes.

Sure, I would have liked one of those Art Deco metal cake keepers that I see at the antiques and collectible malls, but they aren't airtight by a long shot. And they have knobs on top, no handles. So I bit the aesthetic bullet and got plastic, and it is fine. This can accommodate a large cake. It is sturdy plastic, with 3 easy side locks that work well and do not seem to be fragile. I recommend cutting out a piece of non-skid waffle-textured shelf-liner to fit the bottom. I did this and my glass cake plate and the cake atop it stayed in place when I swung it around to test it. It should travel well. The seller shipped immediately. Standard shipping got it to the house in just 2 days.

This caddy is big and made of very sturdy plastic. The base that holds the cake is 12 1/2" in diameter. The lid's interior is 6 1/2" in height. It has more than enough room to hold the standard 8 or 9 inch round or square cake. The lid is tall enough to easily hold a 3 layer cake, unless you have it decorated with big, tall rosettes. For me, I just ice the cake and I'm done. I don't do fancy decorations. I like to bake bundt cakes. It certainly holds the bundt cakes with plenty of extra room to spare.

Both lid and base are made of durable, tough plastic. It's much better than Tupperware plastic. The lid handle is actually built into the lid. It's formed into the shape of the lid, not attached. The three snap closures are easy to close and securely lock into place. The plastic has no odor. Very good value for this one.

This is great for storing or carrying, cookies, brownies, cupcakes and muffins, too. Actually, it will keep bakery bread and rolls fresher for a longer period of time. The base clamps "up" and seals very tightly over the lid of this unit. I'm glad I chose this one.

The best thing about this cake caddy is that it's big. It can easily hold a 3-layer cake, whereas many popular cake caddies in this price range can only handle a 2-layer cake or a Bundt cake. Also the handle and the fasteners are very secure. I feel confident using this cake caddy to carry my cakes, even quite heavy cakes, to distant locations.

Keep in mind that the size of this cake caddy makes it difficult to fit into a refrigerator. If you're really looking for a way to store cakes at home (rather than a secure way to transport cakes) a smaller cake caddy would be more space efficient.

I love this caddy. It has removed the stress of transporting my decorated cakes. I usually don't put the cake directly on the bottom of the caddy, but rather on a cake board. It does slide around sometimes, however, it is a slow slide and the sides of the top are high enough that none of my cakes have ever had a smudge in the frosting when I arrived to my destination. I've put a triple layer cake into this caddy, so it is fairly large. I love it!

Kept my birthday cake safe to the party- last year we hit the brakes and- we ate cake sooner than expected!

Good Quality as I expected from Wilton!

This is a GREAT cake cover and carrier - large enough to accommodate even the 4 layer cakes and wide enough to use a charger plate as a cake plate. Good and sturdy with a great lock system. If you bake cakes a lot...this would be a superb selection for your kitchen.

I wish I had read all the comments before purchasing. I thought this would hold a high cake, but the description on Amazon failed to give all the dimensions. On the carrier, it states it will hold up to a "4" cake. This is because the base of the carrier is raised, limiting space inside. I am thinking of sending this back because I really wanted a carrier that would hold a tall cake. Amazon, please update your description.

I've tried two other cake caddies, and this one is by far my favorite. The size is just perfect - it easily holds a 10" double layer cake without smudging the frosting. The three locking tabs along the base keep the lid on securely when it's transported. I did add in a little circle of non-skid fabric on the bottom, which has made it perfect - no more worries when transporting desserts! I've used it twice as a cake keeper too, and it has worked much better at keeping cakes moist and fresh than my glass-lided holder. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase and can see myself using it for years to come.
