Totally enclosed spindle and nut keeps dirt and contaminants out. 360-degree swivel base has double lockdowns. Replaceable steel serrated jaw inserts and replaceable pipe jaws.

I considered many different options when exploring a new vise for my workshop. Everything from the cheapo HF options to the high end Wilton models. In the end, and not wanting to spend several hundred dollars, this Wilton 21400 #745, 5 inch vise seemed to be a good compromise between high end and the really cheap foreign made versions. Even HD and Lowe's did not have a model that was acceptable to me. This model was nice since it has replaceable jaws and the mechanism is self lubricated and enclosed. I would recommend this vise as a good option. One last comment is that the vise looks a little different and much nicer than the grey picture as shown here. It's actually a light blue/grey color with the Wilton emblem on the side.

This is a great vise. I particularly like the double clamps for locking and the covered screw to keep dirt away from the threads. Package came with a drilling template - useful.
I only wish that the fixed jaw was set forward a bit more so that the vise doesn't have to be mounted quite so close to the edge of the table in order for long stock clamped vertically not to hit the table. I have seen other vises with the same issue.

this is a top quality vise! we have two of these, the first one has held up to over 15 years of commercial use.when we added a second work bench,this was our first choice of what vise to use.
