I got this decorator in time for my son's first birthday. It worked great...I loved it. I went to use it for the second time to make Christmas cookies less than two months later and the thumb press wouldn't catch. I couldn't believe I didn't even get to use it twice.

Very disappointing.

I bought this product to ice cakes with butter icing. I can't use a pastry bag because my fingers cramp. It works really well and most tips fit into it. It is very easy to control and to pipe with, no stress on your fingers. The only problem I had was that the plastic piece that you press down on cracked after doing two cakes. Wilton says you should be able to use butter cream but that it should be really soft. However, the construction is really weak if you are using harder creams and smaller nozzels. I haven't found any alternatives though in the USA.

My girlfriend got this to do pastries and baked treats. We bought it from Beyond, and almost as soon as we opened the package when we got home, we noticed that the collar which attaches the tips to the "squeezer" was broken, upon inspection it was made of very cheap brittle plastic. Back to the store... My girlfriend is French, so she was still pretty excited about baking stuff with it. She loved it initially, but on the second batch of cream puffs... the thumb lever broke... and cut her thumb. The thumb lever is made out of the same cheap brittle plastic as the collar.

I feel like a real jerk because I was the one who found this new fangled "pro" version. I will never knowingly buy a Wilton product again. Judging from the reviews here, perhaps it would be a good idea to contact a consumer advocate as well... that's how pissed I am. I basically wasted […] bucks, my girlfriend cut her hand, we didn't finish the cream puffs (she would have made more... she said) and I had to make two trips back to the store. If that's what you are looking for... you've got yourself a winner here.

I bought this item and within three months it was broken. I used this item approximately five to six times. The thumb lever broke rendering the item completely useless. I've read reviews about the Wilton cookie press and it seems to have the same problem...it's junk. I've always thought Wilton products to be above average quality, but I'm learning differently....it was a costly lesson.

I bought this because my 2 prior Decorator's broke. Thought I needed to spend more money to get better quality. I was wrong. I loved this decorator for the three times I got to use it. Then the thumb press broke while piping buttercream frosting. Really? Total waste of money.

At first I loved this decorator pro as it was a larger container than my previous one. I only used this 4 or 5 times before the plastic thumb lever snapped off. It is almost impossible to decorate with enough accuracy with the plunger on the top of the product. Waste of money. If Wilton would have made the thumb press out of metal it would be great.

seems this item has a real problem with longevity in the thumb press. i used mine to create about a half dozen cakes before it malfunctioned. the thumb piece no longer catches, making it near impossible to depress the frosting. anyone know of a better product? or do we have to resort to using decorating bags?
