I am a big fan of silicone bakeware within its limitations. I thought these would be really great, and they are from a storage perspective and muffins/cupcakes don't stick but...if you leave them in these cups until they are totally cool, they will start to stick, so you don't really want to serve them in these even though they're really cute. :(So, you take cupcakes out of the silicone cup, and then because they are so small they get dry really fast. If you were making a regular cupcake or muffin you would either put it in a paper liner that would hold some moisture in, or you wouldn't use a liner and the sides would be smooth so there isn't as much surface area to dry out. Also, how do people wash these in the dishwasher? I can't find a way to do it that wouldn't have them falling down and being tossed about. Cute and fun if you are making cupcakes or muffins that you eat immediately, otherwise I'll stick to individual foil cups or paper liners, or maybe try some of those silicone cups that have smooth (not pleated/fluted) sides.

it seems like a good idea to have reusable baking cups. it eliminates the need to buy the paper ones, plus you can use them without the actual pan. the problem is they are very hard to clean. the cupcake batter slightly sticks to the baking cup and it is very hard to get off. i put it in the dishwasher and the residue of the cupcakes was still there. i soaked them in soapy water and THEN washed them in the dishwasher. most of it went away at that point, but what a pain. i think i will go back to the paper ones.

These are lightweight yet with a sturdy feel to them, easy to (hand)wash, stacks compactly and takes up very little space in the cupboard. No need to grease prior to use. The cupcakes baked evenly in them and popped out cleanly even after I let them cool down to almost room temperature. There's even an inner ridge (parallel to and approx. 0.375 inches below the rim) that one may use as a guide on how much mixture to put it so that the baked product does not overflow from the silicone cup.The one drawback? It says on the product description that these are 3-inch cups. If one is inclined to generously round-off upwards they might be considered as 3-inch cups. Each of he cups in the set I received are 1.625 inches diameter at the bottom, 2.625 inches diameter at the top, and 1.25 inches deep.

Easy Muffins - No more paper cups sticking to the muffins,

This is the best invention since sliced bread. I like to make muffins and freeze them for company. This makes it so simple, just spray the cups with PAM and pour your batter. When the muffins are done, they slip right out of the silicone baking cup and I'm ready to make batch two. They clean up with soap and water. It could not be any easier. What I especially like is the fact that when I used paper liners, sometimes the paper would peel off half the muffin and it was not a neat proposition. This makes the muffin come out perfect every time.

These muffin cups worked very well. The muffins were cooked perfectly with the bottoms just right instead of being too crispy. My only complaint is that they are a little difficult to clean. Well worth the hassle though, especially since they take up practically no space at all.

Smaller than I expected,

These are not your typical muffin cup. They are a lot smaller than they look in the picture. Well worth the price, but just small.

Have used these for muffins and it was nice to be able to just peel the cup off ready to use again. But in desperation I also used them to freeze cooked tomatoes. Then just peeled them off and put the frozen tomatoes in a plastic bag. Just the right amounts for soups or stews. I would buy again too and will have to to get another dozen.

I had these on my wishlist and got them for Christmas. I love making cupcakes and in the interest in reducing and reusing, I thought these would be better than paper liners. Nope. The cupcakes do stick a little bit, and washing them is quite annoying. I can't get them to stay put in the dishwasher. When washing by hand, it's easiest to flip them inside out and then wash them. But it still takes a bit of effort and I feel like the good I'm doing in using a reusable container is a wash because of the water and soap I'm using. They are nice when you run out of space in a muffin pan, because these can just be placed on a regular baking sheet and will stand up on their own just fine. To me, getting the cupcake out is the worst part. When I first used these, I frosted one before removing it, and ended up with frosting all over my hand because these don't peel off the same way as paper liners. So if I'm going to use these, I would remove the cupcake before frosting, and then they dry out faster. I thought they'd be great for serving cupcakes at home (so I can keep track of the cups), but now I'm just using them for "extra" batter that I'm going to bake up and eat at home myself with a bowl of frosting and a knife.

The only reason those did not get 5 stars is due to their size, however they fit perfect in the muffin magic machine to prevent tough bottoms. They can also be used without a muffin pan, just place on a cookie sheet. They handwash in a breeze or come out fine from the dishwasher. This brand was the most cost effective on Amazon.

These are the perfect size muffin - not the giant Texas size you see in bakeries but bigger than bite size. Since I only bake gluten free, these are an inexpensive solution that solve many common problems.1)I don't find cupcake papers expensive, but I hate that they stick to most GF muffins. 2)They wash up so easily that it's not a problem for those that don't have a dishwasher. Greasing muffin pans will ensure your muffin comes out, but cleaning the cups of the muffin tin isn't my idea of a good time. 3) They are super easy to store, a real plus for my Manhattan kitchen. 4) The silicone muffin pans I've bought all seem to think that bigger is better. The problem with that is that bigger isn't better when it comes to my hips! I have made the same recipe with these liners using them two differnt ways. First by put them on small sheet pan and then using them as you would paper liners. They worked both ways, but I got a higher rise using them inside the pan. This is understandable since I was using a SCD recipe (almond flour based) so the batter is a bit on the heavy side. They didn't get too out of shape because while the batter pushed at the sides, the silicone is substantial enough that I didn't get what I call the "hockey puck" effect that some of the thinner silicone products produce. I remove the liners prior to freezing only because I don't want to buy more than one set and I want to be sure my son's don't toss the liners as if they were disposable wrappers! |
