I use it for greasing my bread pans and cake pans as well as muffin tins. I squirt a little into the pan and then I use a silicone brush to brush it on and there no need to use any flour. Just this one product and cakes and breads pop out of their pan perfectly.
My coworker knew what she was talking about - this stuff is pure magic. Squirt a small amount in the pan, spread it around evenly with a pastry brush, and then add your batter; when the cake is done (and has cooled a bit), this stuff does all the work - I didn't even have to bang on the pan to get the cake to release. The cake easily slid out without any effort and looked pristine. The positives? It actually works; it doesn't alter the flavor, texture, or appearance of your cakes; and a little of it goes a long way - this bottle will last you quite awhile. The negatives? You do really need a pastry brush in order to ensure it gets distributed evenly through the pan, and sometimes the tip of the bottle got clogged and I had to shake it vigorously to release the blockage and get the product flowing again. But overall, I highly recommend it - really makes me feel like I've got my act together as a baker!
It was VERY THICK!! Almost like trying to pour out somewhat melted shortening. It took quite an amount to get enough to spread it around the pan. After baking, it left the cake with a gooey texture, and didn't release the cake very well. I would not buy this product again. I gave it two stars because the cake did release, but personally, I have used Pam baking spray that has worked better. Something I don't like to use anymore because it contains Lecithin. Which is what you are not supposed to use on non-stick pans. And even though non-stick pans are supposed to be non-stick everybody knows they aren't always.
So I purchased this not knowing the ingredients but thought Wilton would be a good choice to find something that would release cakes better. I was wrong.
I also purchased a different product at the same time by Wilton: Wilton Bake Easy Non-Stick spray. I was hoping that might work, so I ordered both products at the same time hoping one would do the job. The spray worked much better in my opinion, and easier to work with than the Cake Release product. It also didn't leave the gooey texture on the cakes like the Cake Release product did.
HOWEVER, it too contains the Lecithin. So they both worked, but quite honestly, not any better than Pam brand BAKING spray. That is a baking spray that has the flour in it, same thing as the Wilton, only half the price.
Since I am not fond of greasing/flouring pans, I will stick with the Pam baking spray. Same ingredients, works just as well, half the price.

This stuff work SO well! I have used it many times to keep cakes from sticking to the pan, so now I tried it on a cake pan I baked an egg casserole in, which usually sticks, but... Read morePublished 1 month ago by Just Me
