Does not have a 4 inch cutting diameter.

My (new) daughter-in-law was looking for a round cookie cutter, that would work for making peirogis and wanted just the right size!

Very good cutter but it was advertised as a 4" cutter. The grip is 4". The cut is 3 1/4". I wanted a 4" cut! Got it from Amazon in 2 days with no shipping charge - terrific!!!!!

I purchased this cookie-cutter because of its four-inch diameter size. However, when I received the order I found that the four-inch diameter is at the top of the cookie-cutter and not the actual cutting diameter. So if you're considering purchasing this is not a four-inch cutting diameter.

This cookie cutter is easy on the hands and cuts through dough easily. The downside is that it takes up a lot of room compared to stacking cookie cutters. But if I need a 3.5 inch cookie cutter...this is the one I reach for.

Note: This is going to sound a lot like my review of the leaf-shaped cookie cutter from the same product line. All of the comments I made there regarding quality apply to this cookie cutter, as well. (Unlike some of the other reviewers, I was not looking for a particular diameter. I just wanted a larger-sized round cookie cutter, and this one works quite well for my purposes.)

When I moved away from my home state, I had to leave behind my mother's enormous collection of cookie cutters. This made me very sad, so I went looking for some new cookie cutters. I really love these Wilton ones for a number of reasons:

*they're very comfortable to use because of the grip on top
*you can wash them in the top rack of the dishwasher
*some of mine (I have multiple cookie cutters from the same line) are at least 7 years old, and I still don't see any rust
*they don't deform, even though they're metal
*because they're metal, they cut the cookie dough very well

I bake a lot of seasonal cookies. However, sometimes there's just not a holiday coming up (for example, if I make cookies for a Ph.D. defense, as these happen at all times of the year). It's good to have some season-neutral cookie cutters, at any rate. This basic round shape would work for sports-themed cookies (basketballs, baseballs, tennis balls, etc.) and other round motifs (smiley faces, peace signs, globes if you're feeling confident with your decorating skills, etc.). One thing I have also done in the past is to use this cookie cutter to make round "fishbowl" cookies. I'd bought some aquatic-themed sprinkles (fish, dolphins, turtles, etc.) so I used light blue frosting and the sprinkles to create a fishbowl theme. (The cookies turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

I gave this the lowest rating becaue the actual product is 3 3/4" diameter on the outside of the grip and 3 1/2" or a little less on the outside diamter of the cutter blade. Product dimensions in ad state it is 4" wide. I wanted a cutter closer to 4" to make a hand pie and this isn't it. I ordered an Ateco 4" cutter and I'll see which cutter is closest when the Ateco arrives. Wilton cutter is decent quality and if I have to, I will pass it on to a devoted baker.

I bought this as a 4 inch cookie cutter. The top plastic edge is, but the cutter part is only 3 1/2 inches. I specifically needed a 4 inch cutter to cut bread and bagels to fit the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker, which takes 4 inch sized bread products. (Love the Breakfast Sandwich Maker by the way, and it is a great deal from Amazon.)

I bought this because I was looking for a larger cutter to use for making homemade yeast rolls. The largest one I had prior to this had a metal arched handle, which was okay and functional. But I LOVE THIS!! Not only is the size so much better for making rolls, but it's easier to use than the arched handle and very comfortable on your hand. Won't use any other type again! I highly recommend!

I bought this to cut out flatbread for my breakfast sandwich cooker. The flatbread circles fit like a glove.
