I ordered this for my son's 2nd birthday party and am so glad I did. I've never attempted decorating a shaped cake before, so I was a little nervous, but my sister convinced me that between the two of us we could do it. She was right, and the cake could not have looked better had it been done by a professional. Wilton included step-by-step directions on the back on the paper insert and it took a few hours, but it came out great. Maybe a little too great - my 2 year old refused to eat any of it! I would rate it a great cake for beginners; it has 4 different icing colors and we only used 2 tips.

I searched high and low for this cake pan. Sometimes party supply or craft shops like Party City or Michaels carry these, but none of mine did. I looked on Ebay for a used one, but even those were selling (after shipping) for more than a new one on Amazon. I did also buy some diapers so I would get the free Amazon super saver shipping. I freaked out a bit over the cake possibly sticking and oversprayed the pan with Pam, which made the flour stick more. Might be worth the couple $'s to buy the wilton pan spray and not have to worry about sticking. Otherwise the cake came out great. I made a sheet pan cake as well and placed the Elmo face on top of the sheet pan cake since we had a lot of party guests.

Even for a novice/idiot in the kitchen(me) that never follows directions this cake pan is "easy as pie" or cake. My 2 year old twins LOVED LOVED LOVED their Elmo cake! Buy this pan & you won't regret it. The only thing you will regret is if you don't buy this pan. PS. I frosted my cake with a plastic knife and spoon. No extra tools required.

Wilton does it again! I made this cake for my 2 year old's birthday. WHAT A HIT! She saw it and couldn't have been happier. The directions call for a #16 star tip to do the red. I forgot that I had lent all 3 of mine to a friend and only had my #253(?) Hair tip. It worked great! Elmo looked really furry. There are no deep or odd crevices so cleanup is really easy, too.

This is a great cake pan. To find the best red frosting get the Wilton tube of red frosting from walmart. It's the only large size red frosting I was able to find that didn't taste funny (something about the red color makes some taste metallic)

This cake pan made it super easy to make a perfect Elmo cake! My 1 year old loved his Birthday cake as did his party guests, it was such a hit my 6 year old wants one for his next Birthday. The only downside is the cake was a little small for the party we were having. It was a simple remedy as I made him the 1 cake using the wilton cake pan and a small round one specifically for the birthday boy. If your little one loves Elmo I highly recommend this product. I am an inexperienced cake maker so if I could do it anyone can. Instructions are also included on the insert. One note in order to get the true red I would recommend getting the premade red wilton frosting, it took a whole bottle of their frosting coloring to get the right color.

This pan is very easy to use and made a great cake. I made it for my daughter's 2nd birthday and she loves elmo. It turned out just like the picture showed! Shipping was also fast and hassle free.

I bought Elmo's cake pan for my son's 2nd birthday and it was a huge hit. I have never decorated a cake with as much detail as this cake, but it was worth it. It took some time to decorate, but turned out great. Just have to remember to grease the pan and then flour it really good otherwise the cake may not come out completely, especially the nose. So whether you are a cake artist or a beginner like me, you can do it.

I made a smoosh cake for my daughter out of this cake pan. It was my first time so I made a practice cake. If you haven't made a cake before then I would definitley practice. Line the pan with flour and shortening. Don't be shy with this either. I only eneded up frosting instead of the stars since that would have taken hours. It still looked great.
